I’d go with Mr. Negato. Sure, he’s evil, but he looks great in purple.

In the centuries before refrigeration meat was stored as shipboard rations in barrels. A layer of salt, a layer of meat, a layer of salt, a layer of meat and so on until you filled the barrel. When you got to the bottom, you scraped off the green, salty meat. You scraped the bottom of the barrel.
