Sounds like Whiskey Jacks, otherwise known as camp robbers. They have no fear and will literally grab food right out of your mouth as you’re taking a bite of sandwich.
“Hey. Come on in and eat! There’s lots more where that come from!”
That is what my cats apparently told the racoons and possums that would come in through their kitty door to partake. At best they would just sit and watch.
