Regarding the word Boricua not being spanish, it may be true that it may have originated in Taino, but according to the REAL ACADEMIA ESPAÑOLA DICCIONARIO DE LA LENGUA ESPAÑOLA - Vigésima segunda edición, it is an adjetive meaning from or of Puerto Rico.

Hey, JAD, there’s nothing on GoComics that’s going to corrupt the minds of The Little Children (tm). Comics are not exclusively for children, not even primarily for children, nor is there any requirement that they be Child Safe (tm).
Even comics featuring children are often not created for children. Cul de Sac, for example, regularly has children using ideas and vocabulary and which are beyond the scope of real-life children of the same age. It’s not a new idea, either; Peanuts has been doing the same thing since 1950.
If you want nothing but Family Friendly (tm) cartooning, just skip right on over to Family Circus; there’s nothing remotely offending (nor entertaining, for that matter) going on over there.
“I just read the Sunday comics. I was disgusted and shocked after viewing the baldo strip. This is very inappropriate material for a comic page viewed by young boys and girls. What was published is soft porn, and is more appropriate for a girlie magazine, NOT a comic strip. I am so sorry you chose to print this type of content in your strip. I hope you rethink the appropriateness of such content.
Thank You.”

Soft porn? Really? Hmmm…
For the sake of accuracy, I may have delve into the Yenny archives and study her a bit more closely. I’ll see you in a few days.
Baldo! The truth shall set you free! Although a lie will go around the world while the truth is putting its pants on…
There once was a boy named Baldo,
Who tried to portray himself as Hidalgo.
But, will Yenny bite,
Taken with the sight,
Or will she see tricky folderol?
Nice email, Carlos. Whoever wrote that doesn’t know the strip at all. Yenny has been running since 2003. I made a comment a few days ago over at my site and that’s the big marketing difference that I have to deal with Yenny every day.
Yenny is followed by teenagers in Puerto Rico. Mostly female. While girls in the US have pink rooms and listen to the Jonas Brothers, an average amount of teenage girls in Puerto Rico live in caserios and listen to Reggaeton music. Somehow Yenny became an equal for them. She falls in love, dreams big and dance along with their tunes.
So , yeah, read the archive and learn before speaking

It’s the coloring monkeys at the syndicate. They just color based on a whim.

I love the interplay between Baldo and Yenny!

If Baldo was really smart, he’d keep pics like that handy, not scramble to photoshop on a moment’s notice.

Oh boy, that is a muy macho photo of Baldo though.

If you think Yenny looks like soft porn you need to get out more.

Nice to see that yesterday’s guest strip with Yenny seems to be part of a Yenny-Baldo crossover.

What I don’t understand is why do people who take everything literally and have no apparent sense of humor even read comics?
