It’s not election day in Tracy’s world— it’s still Halloween, since only a few moments have passed since Measles burst through the door with “HAPPY HALLOWEEN!” Or maybe Measles always says that when he kicks open a door!

He’s not shaking because of the pain, his body is going into shock, it happened to me when I got 3rd degree burns on my right hand, you start to shake uncontrollably then you begin to ache all over, and feel like you’re going to black out; it’s really no fun.

Those would have to be some pretty fast working pain patches to help him get a shot at Tracy now. This guy is hurtin’. (Breaks my heart, too.)

Will the wretched murderer Measles “self-medicate” to death, thus saving Tracy and the State the trouble? It begins to appear so. Remember, we saw Death looming over his shoulder on Sunday! —And, BTW, it looks like Tracy’s backup has arrived, if I read that second silhouette in panel 2 correctly (and the squad car; unless that is what Tracy was driving).

Unfortunately, I think Measles will take the apprehension option away from Tracy. While he is in no condition to run, or even attempt to OUTRUN Tracy and his back up.. I’m laying odds that the gun in his hand will come into play when the pain patches dont ease the pain he is in and he realizes that he cant escape his pursuers. Tracy wont find his “prey” in any position to be doing anything except take up space on a morgue slab.

Measles takes it on the lamb, his coat in tatters and flames. His plans to do murder up in smoke, only desperate flight remains. Hoping he can patch things up is a hasty, dangerous thought. But too much hate and pain and blood, leave our villain fraught. Like Measles, the leaves continue to fall, for all things there’s a season. While the death of Bookie, the plot against Gertie, had neither rhyme nor reason. Alone and wounded, afraid and shaking, Measles grows short of breath. By chance he eluded Tracy, he won’t have such luck against Death.

Measles is all hopped up on dope, even though it’s not enough to block all the pain. I think that’s the reason he’s not overcome with his injuries.

For the only time in history, I tend to agree with Mattie. Let’s keep it Tracy, Magpies, Red Sweaters, Hair Shirts, or time spent under Locher’s desk…… but not politics. There are plenty of thoise forums to do that. But only one SDM/Mattie/tsull assylum!

I’m guessing that’s Sam behind Tracy – from the length of his coat and the shape of his hat. Sam’s overcoat always tended to be somewhat shorter than Tracy’s trenchcoat. Here’s something FUN to think about – trench coats are associated with cops in our popular culture, even though most detectives probably don’t wear them anymore. Remember the movie “the Fugitive”? When the Federal Marshalls and the Chicago cops are at the house of the villian, he arrives home and remarks “What is this – a trench coat convention?”Chester Gould is on record that he gave Tracy a trench coat and fedora because he wanted him to look something like a modern version of Sherlock Holmes. The various private eyes in early detective fiction frequently had trench coats, also. But I think it is probably Dick Tracy that made trench coats so much a part of fictional sleuthing!

Hey, in the background of panel 1 – is that the greenhouse of “Say it With Flowers”? Wonder what happened to George Decopolus; wasn’t Gertie caring for him?

I predicted the oDing on the patches a few days back. Multiple ones will throw him into a coma. If not hospitalized and helped soon afterwards, he’ll go into cardiac arrest.

Good Morning Detectives!Measles wants to be a pain in the patch to Tracy. But it takes awhile for those patches to work. He’ll be captured long before he can take a decent shot. (Unless he eats ’em!)

Now to make this REALLY Gouldian, a snowstorm should suddenly break out, and Measles freezes to death! (How many classic villains met their end that way?)

Whats in the Pain Patches??It hasn’t been stated, but I am fairly sure that it is Fentanyl, a potent, synthetic narcotic analgesic with a rapid onset and short duration of action.Fentanyl is approximately 100 times more potent than morphine, with 100 micrograms of fentanyl approximately equivalent to 10 mg of morphine and 75 mg of pethidine (meperidine) in analgesic activity.Fentanyl is available in the following brand names Sublimaze, Actiq, Durogesic, Duragesic, Fentora, Matrifen, Haldid, Onsolis, Instanyl, Abstral, Lazanda and others.I think Measles is “playing with fire” both figuratively and literally here.

ok, looking at the strip on a better computer with a bigger display screen i can positively say that in panel three, the left side of measles’ hair is DEFINITELY singed.. compare it to the right side of his head in panel TWO and you can see the difference… also in panel three his LEFT EAR is definitely “disfigured” as well.. either swollen or burned from sparkle’s attack…also in panel three i am gonna go out on a limb and say that the darkness on the left side of his face is NOT ENTIRELY shadowing… again, compare it to panel two’s shadowing on measles’ right side of hsi face.. teh “edges” of the shadows in panel two are smooth, but if you look closely enough in panel three there are more “jagged” edges.. almost looks like black burn marks on the side of his face.. this stands to reason as well since if you look at his COLLAR in panel three, it is also showing signs of being singed as well… as for the “awkwardness” of the way his gun is drawn in panel three.. he is holding it against his chest somewhat, so the angle is what makes it appear to be oddly shaped. either way, i am standing by my assessment/guess this morning that measles is going to end his own life before tracy gets the chance to apprehend him… most likely by self inflicted gunshot wound
