Runar … we still have some here…. But they only come down to the little shelf that serves as a desk inside, so Superman would be pretty embarrassed. Our booths are like transformers… a thin aluminum “suitcase”, which turns into a booth when you open it, unfold the flimsy walls and snap in the leg extensions. The curtains are on elastic with hooks on the ends.
Actually I think ALL of them are supposed to have curtains but they’ve either fallen off, or tattered and been removed, after so many years of folding, refolding and packing. They never did much anyway.
I’m re-thinking Superman’s embarrassment, though….maybe he’d be proud.
I always liked the phone booth gag in the 1978 Chris Reeve “Superman” flick. Of course, phone booths were free-standing open mounts for the phone by then. He wound up changing in the fastest-flying revolving door you ever saw.

Faster than a speeding ballot.

So now we need to hold a special election at least once a week, just so Superman can change his underwear?

Wasn’t Metropolis actually NYC where the last phone booths in the nation were just blown away?

Most everything’s been covered, but someone has to mention Clark’s nerdy socks.

Cartoonacy….
This is a page I bookmarked about a year ago during another discussion of Superman and phone booths
There were a few others…. and of course, MANY ironic nods to the convention.
When I was a kid I always wondered what he did with his other clothes…
I always got pretty much the same answer….
“Shut up, kid.”
Sigh….

Larry, does it say anything about me that my last boyfriend not only wore those socks, he didn’t care if he had on a pair that matched?
