There’s no sign here of the usual situation where italians have mobile phones permanently clamped to their ear while they constantly chatter to their friends or to momma. Even taxi drivers do it while they’re driving.
Someone once said that the classic Italian “smell” is a combination of perfume, cigarette smoke and diesel fumes. Never been there myself but would love to go.
Thank you, Giancarlo, for setting the record straight—it was Gregory Peck and not Cary Grant. Roman Holiday is in my top 10 favorite movies and it’s nice to see it referenced here. By the way, the only movie Audrey and Cary ever made together was Charade, another good flic.
I’ve been to Rome twice. And the first time travel to Venice from Termini. The second time from Civittavechia (port of Rome) to Termini. Both times l enjoyed the experience and the nice rush of the terminal and the streets around it. Rome is a great city that everybody should visit at least once in your life.

From No Reservations, the Termini is a thing best avoided, and escaped from asap!

If they’re poor, I wish I was their kind of poor.
