Caulfield: Wow, It's windy ou.. oops. cut. This trick isn't going to work it I'm posing next to a light pole. Frazz: If we had photoshop, we could straighten the pole. Caulfield: If we had photoshop we wouldn't need the hill.
fierorose: They even have ski resorts in Georgia. Texas has a problem in that the slopes (Davis Mountains and Edwards Plateau) don’t get much snow, while the snow country (Panhandle) is miles and miles of nothing but miles and miles. There are a few in the latter who find cross-country skis useful a few times a year.
Michigan is pretty flat but since I live in the Ann Arbor area I know of at leat one hill that would give you an angle like that. It’s called Summer and I lived on it when I first moved to Ann Arbor. The street is on the North side of town and the street next to it is even worse, it’s called Surnrise and it has a 90 degree turn at the bottom of the hill that takes you right over a 20 ft. cliff. I lived on Sunrise for about a year and during the winter I didn’t dare walk down the street because an icy patch could send me over the edge of the hill.
Michigan’s UP has quite a few impressive hills…..Only a few are near the cut off of the definition of a mountain, which is 2,000 feet. The biggest ones, in the Keweenaw area and the Porcupine “Mountains” About 1600 feet. The Porkies are Full of climax Beech Maple forest that was never lumbered..Pretty cool…
The two highest mountains in MI, are within a few feet of each other. Some people started piling rocks up on the shorter one, (about 2 feet) so it can become the highest point in Michigan. Of course, that prompted counter measure on the other one…The race is on. They measure by satellite every ten years I’m told….I’ll keep you posted. Mt. Arvon is the highest one currently…….
I misspoke, Mt. Arvon is just a few feet away from being a legit mountain…and so is the other one….Now if you want to talk lakes, How many does Colorado have? We have so many it’s silly. Michigan’s shape is literally formed by lakes…On Isle Royal, there is an island in a lake, which is on that island, which is in Lake Superior……

Yes, Michigan has some hills; we even have some ski resorts. I do agree that for the most part MI is fairly flat.

Get the GIMP — almost as good as Photoshop, and for free.
