To this day, one of the smells that evokes Hallowe’en instantly is that of a Baby Ruth. I always came back with some of those in my bag. Candy corn, too, of course.
It’s plenty dark by the time we go trick or treating, and my kids are 7 & 9, so we’re not out too late.Happy Halloween, everyone! Have fun and stay safe! Best wishes to those affected by Sandy (not the Halloween trick that you wanted, I’m sure…)
I proofread and copy edited “The Sapphire Sirens.” So I got to be one of the first to read it. Although it was a kind of weird, fractured ‘work while reading’ experience.
Since no one else ventured a guess, I’ll just blather on and reveal that I went once as a clown and once as a witch. I decided on the witch because, with kid logic, I figured it would be harder to guess who I was. “No one will expect a witch to be a boy!” I thought. As long as I got the candy, all was well in my world.
John’s been working up a graphic novel with artist John Dellaire. Personally, I’d like to see more of the regular prose novels, but first there has to be a publisher smart enough to pick them up. DAW said seven was it, no more. Fools!

You can thank a couple of northern tier congressmen for the daylight saving time changes that brought this about. Idiots!
