She built the web. She didn’t build the tree. She didn’t create the breeze that carries her bugs to her web, nor the food and water that keeps the bugs alive until she catches them, nor any other part of the environment that surrounds and sustains her web. That’s the fundamental truth the Republicans don’t want to acknowledge.
unbelievable that this taken-out-of-context statement is still being propagated……….unbelievable that people like seafox have bought into it and still don’t realize that……I suppose their hatred makes them a bit blind
“…taught correctly”??? Whether it’s extreme right or extreme left, I (and the rest of the moderates) am so tired of people like you who think that only you are correct. I LIKE the fact that everyone has different beliefs and points-of-view. That is what keeps one side from taking over this country and doing things one way. But because of people like you who expect it to be “my way or the highway”, Congress has gotten nothing done since partisanship has taken over. The moderates who are willing to cross party lines to get something done for America are being harassed the hardest by their own parties because they are willing to admit that we all need to work together to move this country forward. No, YOU just don’t get it.
I think the best over-all summary of the “who built it” question was conservative pundit David Brooks’ column of August 2nd, 2012. The whole thing is well worth reading, but I’ll quote the last part:
In short, as maturity develops and the perspectives widen, the smaller the power of the individual appears, and the greater the power of those forces flowing through the individual.
But you, Mr. Confused in Columbus, are right to preserve your pride in your accomplishments. Great companies, charities and nations were built by groups of individuals who each vastly overestimated their own autonomy. As an ambitious executive, it’s important that you believe that you will deserve credit for everything you achieve. As a human being, it’s important for you to know that’s nonsense.

We built this web on rock and roll.

then she broke up the web and sold the cobwebs for millions and decided that qualified her to save America.

Yes, she did. No politician can spin a web out of their rear end…they just talk out of that part of their bodies.

But she didn’t provide the internet for it.

But she anchored the web to the edges of the comic, which she did not create.
