So the Cinnamon Knight realizes he needs help, and wants Dick to recommend a therapist? Or is this going to send Dick into some kind of PTSD incident? (Dick got shot and abducted not long ago, and now he’s dealing with a fellow who treats his work like a game. That does not seem a happy situation.)
Well, DT sure is looking dapper and in prime character today. He the only one that one could say that about with his hands in his pockets. In the real world he just may have an 8-shot autoloader(s) clutched in his hand(s) in the pocket(s). Just adding to what BillThompson said bout what he’d already been through.
Love the Eisner/Steranko style in the art today. Cinn wants to be a “for-really” hero, but feels uncertain and so seeks counsel from the PD’s Chief of Detectives. But where does this leave poor Stephanie, a.k.a. the Black Piranha?
It’s an Anniversary of sorts of the REAL thing, but it was the anticipation of this - that ’ triggered ’ Gould’s Moon Era sequences in the early 1960’s
With Moon Maid currently on stage you got to think Cavuto reads Staton and Curtis’ - – Dick Tracy !
“The Police force could use you” WHAT?? I think Tracy must be kidding here (sarcasm), no professional law enforcement officer wants an amateur crime fighter getting in his way.
Love the art. I was never a huge fan of Statton’s Green Lantern or Huntress but he brought me back to Dick Tracy and I’ve really been enjoying the direction.
Quite interesting! I saw the face on the 3rd panel, and wondered immediately; Rorschach? Will we be seeing the Watchmen here?
Unlike others, I’m not disappointed by the comics tie in, just curious about what’s happening. However one thing that will irritiate me, is if this strip starts toward “BAF!” and “SOCK!” and “BOOM!” and cheesy 60s style music – if you get my drift.
ray, cinn didnt do anything wrong in the jewelry store hold up.. he tried to PREVENT it remember? if anything, tracy should soon question him about black p’s whereavouts.
The type of cosplay that CK and BP are involved in is dangerous to the public and to themselves. Suppose that the jewelry store owner had a gun behind the counter and shot one of them during the faux robbery. Suppose another customer in the store had become involved and injured…I would think the police would want to nip this kind of behavior in the bud.
An arrest attempt may be upcoming, but Dick isn’t the stupid kind of cop who’s going to scare off the perp while the guy wants to talk. He’s going to be nice and courteous until he can get within handcuffing range (if needed.)
Besides, he can always threaten an arrest later if Cinnamon Knight gets uncooperative.
I will be surprised if Tracy doesn’t take Cinn into custody, given his knowledge (and the department’s) that he’s playing such a dangerous game. Granted, there’s evidence Cinn’s trying to be “good,” but the stunts he’s been pulling with Piranha put himself and her and the public at risk. The only conceivable reason to let him go is so he can convince Piranha to give up the cosplaying, too. But that’s a dangerous game in itself. What if Cinn goes away now and gets involved in another stunt where he or someone else gets killed? Then Tracy will be the one under fire, especially since everyone at police HQ will know he had a chance to cuff him. I agree with Ray.
I’m probably alone on this, which is fine, but I just can’t take that “Cinnamon Knight” moniker seriously, lol (“Black Pirahna” rocks though) It sounds more like what someone would use to host a cooking show, or a character in a kiddies book……
The conversation with Tracy is going about how I expected. And I agree that CK needs to get a clue. Costumed heroes are fun to read about in the comics, but wake up, this is the real world. The one exception is Moon Maid, who has more than a great costume going for her. :)
I’m eager to find out what Broadway and Belle have planned!Could her costume be a Moon Maid rip-off? (Prompting the return of the real MM?)Could they be planning to get the Black Pirhana to work with them – to trap the Knight?Mike and Joe have set up the characters beautifully – now, let the criminal plot unfold! (Moo-ah-ha-ha!)
I’m very flattered that people still remember my “alternate storyline” for “Gasoline Alley” after all this time (it’s been five years!). That said, I’m quite enjoying what Mike and Joe are doing with Tracy. Super-heroes seem like an odd addition to the strip, but then so were moon people at one time.I seriously doubt that the Cinnamon Knight will be a permanent addition to the strip. I’m sure Mike is aware of the self-proclaimed “real-life super-heroes” that actually exist, and how things really don’t work out for them the way they do in the comics (Google “Phoenix Jones” for an example). This guy means well, but there are complications he may not have considered.

Good morning, cpalmeresq and VistaBill.I can see why Cinn didn’t take the cosplaying very seriously. Why would he, with such a goofy costume? ;-)

Great.
All we need now is for a caertain nameless fanfic writer to start an “Alternate Dick Tracy” here in these boards.

I think I see DT’s point. “Cinn” appears to have the will and the physical strength to battle crime; why not do it the conventional way?

Fox News is going to show something of interest to intelligent people? Amazing.

Instead of joining the police force, he should take holy orders in the Catholic Church, where he could aspire to become Cardinal Cinn.
