Can somebody explain what “to 80 more years” is about? It’s not the 80th anniversary of the strip, and not Johnny Hart’s 80th. Off the top of my head, I’d guess that this is a birthday card for Johnny Hart’s widow, but this seems a pretty flimsy premise for a comic. And what’s with the Q. “eye” flag?
I’m pretty sure the birthday refers to Johnny Hart. I enjoy reading it every year. It is also MY birthday and every year my husband forgets! At least B.C. remembers!
Yeah, strips are for entertainment, but I still like to understand them. I’m in the “terrible rebus” clan. Still, I suppose Hart can be forgiven for targeting his long-loyal fans who clearly got the QI thing.

It’s Queen Eye, duh! Anyway, Queen Ida is 80 now, but she’ll forever now say she’s only 79. That’s funny enough.

Except for Foxtrot and Lio, all the comics today didn’t load. I hate it when I have to come on here just to read them.

Hart’s b-day was 18 Feb 1931, so it must refer to his wife.

Queen Ida is based on Hart’s wife Bobby, whose given name is Ida. She’s featured every year on her birthday, December 3. — Wikipedia

1932 Chateau Las Cases….
If that number is a year, I wonder what a date of 1 signifies in a comic strip named BC…or maybe I’m just over-thinking this….

“My Dad turned 89 yesterday! He can still swing an axe and cut down an eight inch tree!”#eight inches tall?
Just Me almost 12 years ago
Why would you want to cut down an 8 inch tree? Seems like you could just pull it out of the ground.

Is that 8 inch tall? or is the stump radius 8"? dia? circumference?

Didn’t load for me today, either. I like it down here with all the comments. Discriminating readers of the comics. Gotta love it.

I’m 87 years and can’t be of any help on this one.

Thanks for the clarification. Now I feel honored to share a bityhday with Hart’s wife.

And here I thought it was “Cue-Ball”. OOPS! Thanks to everyone for clarifying it’s Queen Ida.
