The late Don Martin once drew a great cartoon about a guy who gets busted for making obscene phone calls…who does guess what when he gets his one phone call.
When you give your best friend a full life, you need to celebrate that life. Yes, it is a sad time, but I am sure that your buddy does not want you to be alone and would want you to find another friend. We all give our animals the best life they could have ever had – there is a time for a life well lived to be over. seventeen for a dog is a long life, so celebrate the life.
I entirely agree with you. I think the initial post was on the Fred Bassett comic of about two weeks ago. I keep saying it, but the majority of folks on this web site are heartwarming people.
He came from a rescue centre having been abused as a pup. Originally called Pavarotti he was bought by my former neighbours whose little girl wanted a dog. They renamed him Sam. After six weeks, the love affair with the dog ended and they wanted rid of him. He moved in with us, my ex wife and our dog Sooty. Because so many people had confused his life, I renamed him Pickle. He and Sooty kept me sane during my divorce and were truly great companions. I think a puppy for Buster is a great idea. Why not throw open to those who post here a name the pup posting session. That would be good fun. Thanks for all the kind comments.
I gleaned from you comment Andy, Fred, don and Mickey weren’t getting created ‘on the spot’.
But that’s still some impressive Fanart; You’ve been at this some time, it seems.
I’ve wanted to be a cartoonist since I was 7, but, never had the guts to “try”, so, I amuse myself , drawing for fun… I just have a chronic fear of rejection that would make it extremely difficult to try and “sell” myself to a newspaper syndicate… I am thinking of looking into Gocomics “Sherpa” program… might be just the thing for someone as shy as myself. Well, I was drawing Fred at 7, and mickey by 10; however, until last week, I’d never been able to do a decent Andy Capp
just one of those days…I have lived in sweats and sox all day…icy fog and cold…and I think I need to see some sun…I thought that fit my mood today pretty darn good…lol…thanks for enlarging it…I have appointments tomorrow but Tuesday I plan on using all of yours and Number 6’s tips, and work on being a productive contributor instead of a mass consumer of others hard won knowledge and skill. Thanks for the encouragement everyone!
Thanks Linda! I was going to change him pretty soon, I have some other nice ones for Christmas but he is cute, so I may keep him around a few more days.

Just wait until there’s a Disney reference, then you’ll see a “Capp” with giant round ears
