Which raises the question: Why is Duke keeping former President-for-Life Trff Bmzklfrpz in his opulent place? Is Duke getting CIA black-ops payments under the table to keep him? If so, what for? One thing is certain: Duke’s not keeping him out of the goodness of his heart.

“Trff … forgot or lost his money ….”

Probably billions (that belong to the Berkistani people). Where is it? Who has it? I’m guessing Trff made some sort of pre-rescue arrangements . . . The plot thickens.

I bet Duke has enough stolen loot squirreled away as to make Mitt Romney look homeless.

If two negatives make a positive, do two oxymorons make one moron? In this case, YES!

Duke’s not keeping him. GT is. Like a lot of other “occasional” characters (Bernie, Honey, Phred, et. al.) Trff will now come and go. New blood in occasional characters is what makes this long running strip current (see Becca)

Duke is probably keeping Trff around as a means to blackmail Mxphl.

“I hope that when corrupt Karzai gets deposed we’re not stupid enough to give that jerk asylum like Duke did for Trff.”

“In 1986, President Marcos of the Philippines was granted political asylum in the United States to avert civil conflagration because of a popular uprising against his regime.”

“President Marcos, his wife Imelda and 88 members of his staff and their families were advised that they were being allowed into the United States with ``parole’’ status for the convenience of the U.S. Government. This status is a legal fiction in which the individual is physically present in the United States but had never been ``admitted’’ to the United States.”

Source: “Immigration Relief For The Support Staff Of Ferdinand Marcos”, U.S. Rep. Patsy T. Mink (Hawaii), same link as above.

Sometimes the truth, friend Omnius, is that the reason for a corrupt asylum within our shores is not always stupidity on the part of our government. Sometimes it is corruption. Which may be Trudeau’s underlying point here.

“… many members of our govt really have no problem with dictatorship and dictators.”

Why not? Because our mega-corporations are “in country” helping the dictator-of-the-moment to steal it blind? Robbing resources, such as oil? Or mining “blood diamonds”?

Trff’s uniform still looks very nice. I’m glad that he is keeping himself up.

Obviously, you didn’t get the memo. The cool neo-cons are now agitating for intervention in Mali. Get with the program or you’ll end up in the dustbin of history, with your former bff, Mitt What’shisname.

They’re Rioting in Africa (The Merry Minuet)(Sheldon Harnick)

Intro: There are days in my life when everything is dreary I grow pessimistic, sad and world weary. But when I’m tearful and fearfully upset I always sing this merry little minuet:

They’re rioting in AfricaThey’re starving in SpainThere’s hurricanes in FloridaAnd Texas needs rain.

The whole world is festeringWith unhappy soulsThe French hate the Germans,The Germans hate the Poles

Italians hate YugoslavsSouth Africans hate the DutchAnd I don’t like anybody very much

But we can be gratefulAnd thankful and proudThat man’s been endowedWith a mushroom shaped cloud

And we know for certainThat some happy daySomeone will set the spark offAnd we will all be blown away

They’re rioting in AfricaThere’s strife in IranWhat nature doesn’t do to usWill be done by our fellow man.
