Florida was under water at one time. We find plenty of sharks teeth in the phosphate mines.

I seem to recall manmade Antarctic jungles in two different comic book universes.

Carbon dioxide isn’t the only gas that will warm the climate. Sulfur dioxide is another; guess where SO2 and other sulfates come from? Volcanoes! Like the huge volcanoes that produced the Deccan Traps.BTW, speaking of Antarctica, you can find Lovecraft’s At The Mountains Of Madness and other stories at wikisource dot org. Hundreds of writings by Robert (Conan) Howard, too.

As long as I’m here…the problem is only partially the rise in global temperature (though it might be a bit inconvenient to have New York City under a few hundred feet of water), it’s also the rate of temperature rise. In past eras the rise was relatively gradual, giving species time to move or adapt to different conditions or to mutate to avoid predators. If the current rate of rise continues this is not possible.
