Looks like Guy and Brad are angling to give the strip back to Aunt Fritzi…

In his hey-day, when Fritzie was the strip’s star (and from the few pictures of him on the internet sites), he still looked cartoonish, but a bit taller.

How about a good heart? Or does that count for nothing these days?

On the plus side, their kids would be short like Nancy.

Imagine my disappointement with Fritzi today. It’s like going to Rushmore to see the other side of the mountain. If you get my drift.

Hey Guy, you might have noticed that many readers feel that this match up between Fritzi and Phil just doesn’t work. She is so far out of his league as to make the story unbelievable. I have an answer…The easy answer is to draw him differently. Make him taller, confident, and better-looking, but I don’t think you want to do that. Although a little tweaking wouldn’t hurt, like to make him the same height as Fritzi, like he was depicted in the 1930’s. But here’s something you can have fun with…Give Phil some competition. Have another suitor go after Fritzi, one that’s handsome and charming. Phil gets jealous. Fritzi gets put in a tough situation and has to make some soul-searching decisions. And in the end, Phil does something so outstanding as to win her over. Something altruistic and selfless that shows he really is a big man where it counts. What do you think?

This storyline will run through the holiday Guy has already said so.

I found the July 2, 1924 strip interesting. Based on the age she looks like in that strip, Fritzi must be over 100 years old! She looks better now than she did then! And Nancy never ages, she looks the same as she did 50 years ago when I was a kid! Such is life in the funny papers!

The only complaint I have with Phil is he appears too young for Fritzi. As far as him “being out of Fritizi’s league,” I don’t think so. Fritzi appears to be a person who judges people by their character and heart rather than outward appearances. There’s more to people than their “looks.”

Sorry, one can only do that with a headline and it doesn’t recognize that particular strip as a headline. The strip is in the middle of the left side.

I just noticed that Nancy has an interesting storyline going. I remember when Bushmiller? quit and the new guy, YOU?? had a real funny cartoon about Nancy and Sluggo wondering about normal Hair?! Nancy hadn’t been that funny for a long time.
