Pab, your politics are even dumber than your comic strip, if, for example, you think Obama’s being a member of the Congressional Black Caucus is an “accomplishment”.

I like my comics without politics of any kind, thank you, especially those of a genuine yellow-dog democrat,

So just WHY are you in the tank for someone as hilariously unqualified as Obama? Did you really believe his promise of Federal subsidies for third-rate cartoonists? Is that it?

Every comic has a political bent to it, in one way or another.

btmosley: this year politics just can’t stay out of anything. I did a week on Banned Books week, like I’ve done before (See September 25-30, 2006. I didn’t do it in 2007 as I was just coming out of the hospital and didn’t have time to prepare.) Since there was the brouhaha about Palin firing the Wasilla librarian for objecting to the idea of banning books, it made sense to have her guest host. Please note that at no time did I ever suggest that she wanted to ban any of these books. She was just handy to use.

I’ve also hit the other side, and will continue to do so. (My favorite is September 15, 2006, go look at it.) Joe Biden, likewise, is too tempting a target to pass up, and he will be getting his. (I work on deadline on the Sunday pages, since I hate to do them, and further ahead on the dailies, so give me time.)

I also did my best to keep the politics OUT of the Banned Books week strips. It would have been SO easy to smash that woman into the ground, but I consider censorship to be one of the greatest crimes against the human spirit (YES, BY ANYONE, INCLUDING THE LEFT WING!) so I tried to stay above the fray.

Funny how the people who whined the most over a week dedicated to “think for yourself” are those who have had their brains trampled by talking points.

If Obama wins, he’ll play roughly the same role the occasional appearances of Bush play. I hope I can get a couple good goofy face shots of Obama to use.

As for why I’m backing Obama (I love your use of the GOP talking point terms), he’s better than the alternative, which is the same policies we’ve had for the past 8 years by a man whose biggest accomplishments were crashing four planes in Navy flight training, graduating fifth from the bottom of his class, getting shot down and spending time in a POW camp, and dumping the wife who waited for him while he was a prisoner for a rich beer heiress.

And if you consider my strip “dumb” why are you reading it? This isn’t “Cathy,” where it’s forced upon your comic page. You don’t need to subscribe to everything here. That’s the beauty of GoComics.

The strip touches upon all aspects of modern life, with a touch of the surreal. Politics is part of modern life, so it gets dealt with when need be. If your political opinions are so fragile that they can’t stand to have some fun poked out of them, then I not only suggest you avoid the comic page, but you might want to stay locked up in your room because someone, somewhere, might conceivably say something that might offend you some time in your life.

People who are easily offended deserve to be more often.

That’s about all I have to say on this subject, thank you. Back to the funny.

I for one appreciate it, and really enjoy the use of Victorian characters to play up the illogicality where it might show up. BRAVO!

Politics aside, I love this level of interactivity between creator and audience.

btmosley thinks Obama is “hilariously unqualified”? What greater qualifications does McCain have? What qualifications AT ALL does Palin have? I like the poking that’s done to all the candidates, it might serve to keep them all humble, though I tend to doubt it.

What real qualifications do ANY politicians have? I spent the better part of 9 years defending all this greed and corruption, now I have to pay for it? Take away all the tax money used to pay all these politicians. They make enough from their stock portfolios. They should work for free. I should be so lucky to vote my-self a raise in pay. AGI bailout: $85billion Wall St. bailout: $700billion( and counting) Iraq/Afganistan war: $$$$$$$$$$ Knowing I won’t be around to ever see the national debt paid off:priceless Or I could go live in Zimbabwi with their 11+million% inflation rate, where $5 billion dollarsZ will get you a cup of coffee.

namenamename: regarding interactivity, my background is rooted in the stage and troupe comedy, where you get live response from an audience. I thrive on comments and feedback, and get nervous when I don’t have any. I love talking with readers, even with those who disagree with me or don’t like something or other, because it reassures me.

Pab: This is why we have online comics, as you say.

Do what you do, you’re okay by me.

Wow… official trips to ALL those? Can Palin say that? Can McCain?

Oh, and a resounding BRAVO to you AND Obama…

Obama’s “experience” equates to over half of his potential Congressional votes being “missed”, and most of the rest as “present”. That’s some great leadership there Obama. Besides, this election isn’t between Palin and Obama, it’s between McCan’t and Nobama. The US loses either way. (One guy has no clue about the economy and the other guy has no idea. One guy has no clue about foreign relations and the other guy has no idea. One guy tells the truth about taxing us to the breaking point, while the other isn’t going to change the status quo.) (Joe Biden explaining Obamas redistribution of wealth as making things “fair” is hilarious. What it is doing is making wealthy as miserable as the middle class. Do that and the wealthy no longer hires the middle class and the middle class become the lower class. Congrats. If Nobama thinks the gov’t can run our lives better than we can, then why is education in the crapper, among other things.)

You forgot to list Obama’s pledge regardign public financing for his campaign. Oops - he lied. How about that commercial he used to run promising lobbyists would not be a part of his White House. Oops - he lied and hired lobbyists during his campaigning. How about the change he’ll bring regarding payoffs in Washington. Oops - he received the second highest payoff from Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae to keep regulators out - and in only 143 days as a novice senator. Oh, and you forgot to mention that he dedicated his book to his “mentor” of 20 years, Rev. Wright - distancing himslef from the Reverend’s vitriol only when he was forced to politically. Read “Duck for President” by Doreen Cronin; it’s Obama’s political career.

Oh - and McCain’s accomplishments could fill four panels every day for a month. McCain doesn’t change the campaigh rhetoric depending on the audience and what he thinks people want to hear.
