Nah, not this time. She DOES let herself go a little too often. Kids CAN get too demanding of a parent’s time, even when they don’t need the parent’s time every single second. Mom needs to insist on time for herself. It’s the martyrs that live in sweatpants and bathrobes.
(I’ll bet money I get slammed for THAT opinion. lol!)
While I don’t dress up, I try to look decent every day. I only wear sweats if I’m going to work out. I feel that you should look as if you could meet someone at a moment’s notice.
Michael has a point though he needs a little work on how to word it more tactfully. It was the same when I was a kid. My mom worked midnight shift and when she got up around 3:00 in the afternoon she stayed in her nightgown and robe til it was time to get ready to go back to work at 11:00 which was after my bedtime. The other thing this made me think of was the only time she’d make a cake or something special was when company was coming. I’d see a cake baking and ask who was coming over. It was never just for us.
There was a reason June Cleaver wore pearls, shirtwaist dresses, hose and heels to vacuum. My mother, of that generation, taught me to always dress nicely for my family, especially my husband. Yeah, right. . . when he dresses nicely for me while we flop-butt and watch TV.

He’s got his mother’s ears—and his dad’s big mouth.

Real nice, Mike. You’re on your way to being just like your dad – open mouth, insert both feet!

Nice as in no hair rollers or mud mask all over the face or slouchy clothes.

Wasn’t it just a couple of days ago she decided not to get dressed at all? Mike’s backhanded compliment isn’t all that inaccurate.
