Linda’s just proven something to herself. She does care about living, after all, and is considering her ability to do her job without harassment, worth defending. That’s a big first step. Holly will lower the boom on all of them, but I suspect she’s secretly pleased with Linda’s sudden will to live and function in End Town.
Waitresses may get a lot of grief from customers, and that could have been a test, or it may have been an effort to protect their turf for tips. Linda is supposed to be to do almost anything she wants, according to the aptitude test. Anyway, “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog”, like when sweet little Holly took down Flask/Blackie. Whether Linda remains a waitress, I think she just turned an important corner.Remember to vote early and often for this strip, Endtown 2.0 at topwebcomics.com, and Doc Rat also. If you want, we can help promote Aaron by voting for Endtown 1.0 so Aaron has two comics on the first page. For that matter we *could vote for Entown 2.0 (the typo), and with enough effort we could have Aaron on page 1 three times, but the webmaster at topwebcomics asked that we not vote for the typo, and so far this month it only has three votes, so we have pretty much honored the webmaster’s request, and avoided their wrath. Thanks, JusSayin
Don’t discount the French in fighting. One of the best counter terrorist groups is the GIGN. I know I’ve worked with them. They are like us Troopers here in Texas, a militarized police force with counter terrorism training and police arrest powers. Dien Bien Phu was actually a victory from a military point of view. They fought till they could no longer continue without just dying hand to hand. Completely surrounded for weeks and held out. The NVA and Viet Cong took heavy losses just trying to capture the position. They got the no fight rap from WWII. It was not the soldier who failed there it was the command leadership holding onto WWI tactics and procedures that crumbled leaving the soldier with no guidance. The blitz could not be contained without decisive action and none came from command. And he is a chef. Can you imagine how he would handle an edged weapon? And I agree with mr_sherman. That Holly is entirely tooooooo cute. (I think that is the most cartoony I have seen our author go lol). And as far as erotic cat fighting. He is French and nearly every thing to them is erotic one way or the other. I would expect no less from the Chef. And they are completely at the mercy of feminine charms. They can’t help it.And the Mayans were dead wrong. Now the fiscal cliff is real and coming but the day will dawn and life will go on.
HA! Bitches picked a fight with the wrong teddy bear. Funny how he called it erotic cat fighting despite the fact that none of them are cats and their clothes stayed on…
Maybe all this could’ve been avoided if Holly had just given Linda this look when Linda and Doug were trying to harvest their brains…“Let us go! Pweeze?” “Oh, all right, off you go now.”
This last day thing.OK. The 21 is listed. Which means that it exists in Whole, complete. However, 22 is not listed therefore, IT is the " last day" that exists. Get it???Blessed Be.

I asked Aaron about this once, he told me that “Endtown” takes place in an alternate reality from ours (one of Aaron Marx’s parallel universes if you will) with different technologies and historical events. My understanding is that Endtown itself is located in the “city state” (Aaron’s words) of Hilside which is located near/on the east coast of what we might recognize as the continental United States. The technologies are fairly diverse including the incredibly advanced stuff for those who have the means (Think Transporters with their self repair modules and hoverscouts) and much cruder stuff for the general public. I was also told that culture/dress ect… tends to be in the mode of our mid 20th century, thus we have people who are familiar with Sr. Wences and George and Gracie but not Rock and Roll. I don’t recall being told a time frame, but I think that we’re probably closer to the present day than say the 23rd century. Any coments Aaron?

You are all quite welcome. Myself and a number of associates from a UNC project have been focussing our psi and chi energy to avert the apocalypse. Next project is to avoid a brontosaurus hailstorm headed across the universe towards the Memphis area, but we are not certain if they are headed to Tennessee and triggering the New Madrid fault, or Memphis, Greater Egypt, to disrupt those pyramid shaped orbit stabilizers.Do not worry, The Age of Aquarius is still coming in about 546 years and three months, and humans play a major role there. We have seen the future and it looks erm, interesting. Keep a stock of clean underwear, because there will turbulence by April 15 of some year.JusSayin
Havng worked with microtubes, though larger than what Aaron is mentioning, getting much smaller causes more problems than they’re worh. Actually, transistor technology is a throwback to the crystal radio and re-examining the properties of the diode action in the crystal. The math, physics and technology to create transistors was available, but expensive for the time. Working with the Edison effect was simpler and easier to understand. Also, electricity wasn’t at a premium. When the scale gets too small, space between different parts of the vacuum tub interfere with each other. Before Dolby sound reduction, stereos did a lot to minimize noise and other interference. Some of the BEST sound systems were in the 1970’s and they used transistors, not vacum tubes. Technology lesson over.
