They’ve played a recording of a message sent to the Uk police on the radio. A dumbo woman phoned the police because someone stole a snowman she had made from outside the front of her house. Apparently she had used pound coins for eyes and teaspoons for arms. Crazy world.
I used to love snow as a kid, but as I grew older I started disliking it since it usually meant more work and bad driving conditions. I’ve made peace with it again though . . it’s so pretty. It could stay a few more weeks if it likes.
The 50 degree days and the rain has melted most of the 18" of snow we received during the last three weeks here in the midwest. I am glad for the approx. 1.5 inches of rainfall that the snow represented. This helps to make up some of the 16" of rainfall we lacked in 2012 due to the drought. The farmers in the midwest appreciate the snow melt a will my lawn and my garden. Plus, the snow was pretty, once the driveway and sidewalks were shoveled and the streets were cleared.
I’ve lived in Northern IA for 2 years, and I think I’ll take the cold, snowy winters here ahead of the hot, muggy summers in KY. It gets hot here, too, but not quite as hot, and not for as long.
I love it. Just as a throwback to Calvin and Hobbes back on the one day it snowed here this winter I helped the kids of the neighborhood make a large snowman with fangs and a wide-open mouth on the mailbox and then we put a little snow man in his mouth with foodcolor “blood” dripping all over… it was hysterical. We also used yellow foodcolor to give him one yellow and one bloodshot eye.
I hate the cold and snow — unpleasant to take the dog out in . . . bad driving conditions . . . worried a bad fall will break something, causing physical pain and enormous medical bills . . . worried that the driveway shoveling will give my husband a heart-attack and make me a widow . . . the list goes on and on. If I never saw another single snowflake again the rest of my life, I’d die a happy woman!
However . . . Calvin’s wonderful snowmen never fail to make winter just a little more tolerable though!!!!! :-)
And what does it “prophet” a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul? Also, are there not some lines in Ezekiel (really not sure about this) at the end of the book that describe people melting?
