Luann is at her most expressive in some time in panel 2! Snooping in panel 3, she, and we, see Gunther showing signs of overcoming his shyness under Rosa’s careful tutelage.

Well, Quill’s gotta be pleased. His advice actually helped Rosa and Gunther jump some broomsticks. Which means his presence as a phone at the bowling alley was well worth it, no matter how silly it seemed at the time.

Notice in the last panel that Gunther doesn’t look as dorky as usual. He looks more relaxed and confident. I think Rosa’s good for him now that the ice is broken.

@Dave53: Greg Evans sets the range of values. If it’s black, he put it there. As for the hues, we follow an agreed upon palette.

Unlike Donny, who is clueless about the comics production process — ‘tho he likes to pretend he has knowledge about the actual behind-the-scenes activity — Evans has no time and no interest in micromanaging. It’s an income producing business, Donny, not a hobby.

They look so sweet, and Gunther is actually dressed normally with a little color. Love with the right person can do so much for a nerd. And on that point, remember that Rosa is a very smart, high-achieving student herself. It is not surprising she would be attracted to the “smart” young man in the class. Lucky for Gunther, this should make him more a man.

Back to TJ & AE— it’s been bothering me all weekend. I’m putting my thoughts in two posts:*1) Double standards. Brad got it right on Saturday, they are both conniving. So why do we always seem to hate conniving women and consider them witches while men who are schemers are kind of cute. Like little boys grown up?*By rooting for TJ over Anne, I the feminist am just as guilty as everyone else? That’s a painful insight, Mr. Evans.

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but isn’t this the same guy who built himself a worm costume, ran through some library sprinklers early one Sat. morning, then went streaking through said library a bit later that day?.He had some lame-o excuse as well, I believe….

    2) Morals. I’ve been reading a book that says there are three classes of morals. Maybe this helps distinguish between the two.*- Individual morality. Do we make the decisions so our personal character becomes charitable, prudent, tolerant? “Is our ship in good sailing shape?”*- Morality between people. Do we treat others in the manner we want to be treated? Do we obey the golden rule? Do we show respect and tell others the truth? “Do we sail according to plan so we don’t run into other ships in the fleet?”*- Cultural morality. Does the culture we live in have a healthy direction? “If the fleet is due in Anchorage, arriving in Bombay is not success.”*I’m thinking that while both AE and TJ are bad actors, AE only tries to help herself when she harms others, whereas TJ oftentimes tries to help his friends. (Morality between people)

Wrinkles?*See from the San Diego paper that the new play Mr. Evans wrote and produced is not about Luann but about the elderly. http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2013/jan/11/tp-luann-comic-strip-creator-visits-another-age/ Is this INSTEAD of the Luann musical we were expecting or in addition to it? Anybody with inside info?

“Not all of us rooted for the Toad. I am sure there was at least one poster that wanted TJ to get squashed like the bug he is.”

This isn’t over yet. Don’t forget that Ann had never been truly beat before. (I don’t really count getting sent to Tokyo by the CEO as being “beat”) She was not really prepared for TJ. So the next time TJ meets her, she will be ready for the guy.

At that point all bets are off.

I remember when we were all stoked up about Gunther & Rosa. However the story pales after AE & TJ. Gunther & Rosa are going to have to go hiking… I know it’s a family strip – but maybe Gunth could play with the buttons on Rosa’s shirt while they’re talking – or something… For more action we’ll have to return to Brad & Toni – or AE and TJ. If the Class of Luann graduates from High School, Evans could surprise us with Crystal & Knute being the first to get married. When asked why, Crystal would reply “I hate cleaning my bathroom…”

I bet Aaron Hill makes his reappearance some time during the Luann/Quill romance. He will probably move back to Pittsville and declare his love for Luann (having realized, while in Hawaii, that he loves her and only her), and then general Luangst can ensue. Bets, anyone?

All these years, and Gunther never thought to put on a jacket? What a difference it makes! Looking =so= much better, more mature, and handsomer there, Gunther.

I’m betting, here, that either: 1) Luann flips out and wrecks everything, or 2) Rosa’s family moves to South America. Any takers?

Back in the day when Luann was – maybe 12 – Aaron HIll had to go. No way to up the ante at that age. Now as the kids are approaching adulthood, you’re trying to get somebody for Bernice. For Better or For Worse might have eventually paired Bernice and Delta as an item. However I’m happy for Bernice to get a guy – as long as Evans makes it interesting…

I’d like to see Bernice with a guy, too, as long as she cans the jealousy and is willing to see the guy as his own person and doesn’t try to become his everything. I hope she could do better than airhead Aaron Hill. Who knows, though—if AH is brought back, he might be unrecognizable now, just like Brad bears practically no resemblance to his former self. Which is a very good thing! Anyway—unless someone in Luann undergoes a maturity upgrade, there isn’t anyone who’s a suitable match for our Bernice.

If she doesn’t mind just dating, and not looking to make someone her everything, she could go out with TJ and actually have some fun. Crack a smile or something. He and Luann had a lot of fun at the prom, and he was more of a gentleman than Miguel was, for sure.

I’ll take some of that action. Aaron Hill can be quite different by this time. Or not. Evans gains leverage by bringing in prior characters now and then. You see who they are and you know who they were – it compounds. Scenario One: Aaron is a marine – and he grabs Bernice and takes her to Guam. Scenario Two: Aaron hill is the same kid – a little older. AE kept her job and a meek Aaron walks in looking for a job. Who knows – if you can’t kill ’em with knives -maybe you can kill ’em with flowers…
