I get in the same confusion with my students by using the term “dress pants.” Some think I mean culottes! LOL

It’s like we try to confuse our children.
Reminds me of the first time a Texan friend called my new boots “dancin’ boots.” When I remarked that I don’t dance, he clarified that “dancin’ boots” refers to your newest (and usually your best) pair of boots.
so, who’s gonna be watching the kid? The dog?

I called them “Sunday shoes” when my boys were still at home.
