That, plus it’s a canine instinct to obey the alpha dog, which is how all dogs see their owners.

Here is another strip that got me into hot water. Readers thought John had actually KICKED the dog in panel two! What I had tried to show was John putting his foot under Farley’s rump and moving him. I would never have shown someone kicking a dog! This taught me to never draw an action unless I could draw it well!

John is in babysitting mode, Elly is still at the gym and the kids are pushing to see how far they can get!

A guess a lot of these commenters have never experienced the “joy” of kids who will not stay in bed. They could make Mr. Rogers lose his temper.

I’m glad he didn’t kick him. I can understand the frustration. Sometimes I tell my cats to get out of my way.

And we NEVER see Elly yelling at the kids. Ever! At least not in the past 24 hours.

Hello, NSPCA? After screaming at the kids, (got the recieving end of that.) and scotting the dog along, who would want to love John. He reminds me of my so-called father…I hated his guts!

You can have a full time job and paying the bills, and yes, he did NOT kick the dog, but just because he pays the bills,( like the monster Mother married,) does not give him the right to be abusive! And after 11 years of bill paying and abusing the wife and kids, my Mother got smart and left him,and so did I. Unless you’re for spousal abuse!

When parents just want to get rid of the kids and then force them to bed at an early hour, the kids are going to get back up and raise Cain.Parents that do that sort of thing are not parenting.

my dogs hide when they hear an angry voice. Tone is everything. Can’t imagine John kicking Farley!!!

I guess some people forget that it takes 2 to make a marriage work. And 2 to break a marriage! No one is perfect!
