I’ve actually HAD a ride in a ball like that. There was a carnival ride at the state fair last year that did the exact same thing for humans, only in water. (The ball floated in the water; the human inside stayed dry.) It was a lot of fun, but exhausting within a very few minutes!
The weekday strips only number six, hence a week in the FBOFW universe could take longer than real-time due to the difference. Also, there can be times they are showing a dialogue that takes a few strips to publish, but would probably only be a few minutes or so in the real world.
We had a hamster ball like this when my sister and I were kids but we had enough sense that NEVER in a million years would we have let our beloved pet hamsters go down the basement stairs in it! Sure, the ball may be quite sturdy . . . but that doesn’t mean the hamster would have had the exact same luck and not died in it from internal injuries instead. Why would anybody but a sadist want to risk the life of another living, breathing creature just to find out for sure?!?

Our hamsters had trouble getting their “hamster ball” up over the edge of the carpet. It was fun watching them try.

And at the bottom of the stairs, they wondered why the hamster was asleep.

Although, only as a cartoon is it funny. My first reaction was, " Oh, that poor hamster!"
