Jason: I was thinking we should get a big-screen TV. Andy: Oh? Jason: That way when I play video games, I'll be able to see every explosion of alien blood in big, bright, lifelike resolution. Whaddya say, mom? Peter: Who shrunk the television? Jason: Could you put it down, please?

@JasonThe way I see it, you should have asked your dad and put some sports into it to motivate him into buying the huge TV screen.-Besides, you know your mom’s nothing but a HUGE Cheapo/Wet-Blanket/Killjoy, who can’t cook to save her own bacon…-On the other hand, you could buy a projector and place it in your room and you can have a screen as big as your heart’s content to play with!!

That’d be MY response to such a request.

Let the frustrated Andy take out her frustration once on a video game, and she will be hooked.

Shrink the TV!!!!! Just throw it out along with the games. Maybe I’m biased though. We don’t have a TV at all and I don’t buy violent games for any other device. I was raised without a TV and of course without internet (I’m pushing 40). My kids are not allowed on the internet. When they are older and need on it for research, they will be monitored as well as have software installed to keep them from going where they shouldn’t. My oldest is in 5th grade, so I don’t have to worry about it just yet. I monitor their music too. If you need to occupy your mind, read a book. Its good for you! I monitor the type of books they read too.

I remember years ago seeing new 40 inch hi-def big screen TVs in a furniture/electronics store for about $5000 each … same ones now go for $500 at Walmart …read a story recently where some new super TV by sony or samsung coming out – 50 and 70 inch – are going to be about $20,000 each … totally insane … and people will buy them, too. We have a 50 inch panasonic plasma – got it for $700 from costco … works great … bought Avatar collector’s edition just to see all the definition in it – blows me away.
