thatababy: i've never seen him in a movie...or heard about him in a book at bedtime...i know nothing about his backstory and little about his personality...so why am i hypnotized by this mouse?
As a matter of fact, Mickey is far from Disney’s most popular character. They have to keep a tight rein on characters like Pooh, Tigger, and Goofy or else they would outsell the mouse. and no one is allowed to outsell the mouse.
I’m 64, and my memories go back to before the original Mickey Mouse Club, and even I can’t remember when theatrical Mickey shorts or the newspaper Mickey strips were much use. But Carl Fallberg and Paul Murry were still carrying on the legacy of Floyd Gottfredson in Dell’s “Walt Disney’s Comics and Stories”, where Mickey played a character made up of equal parts of Ellery Queen and Indiana Jones (with just a soupçon of Bing Crosby), and, oh, those could be glorious.

That mouse has been the leader of the club that is made for you and me for almost 100 years. I also cannot believe Walter wanted to name him Mortimer.

Some predators mesmerize their prey before devouring them.

I never liked Mickey Mouse very much. Donald Duck was much more to my taste, but even then I preferred Daffy Duck.

You forgot the princesses, I’m pretty sure that Cinderella, compleate with the “new manga look” could SQUASH the mouse in $$$.
