As a Civil War “student” I hate to admit it, but every timeI read about Ft Pillow this is the picture I first get in my head. (It was named after Gideon Pillow.)
Setting aside the time elapsed since the actual massacre, it seems the arrows ( indicating askirmish with Native Americans ) would makethe insensitivity thing sort of moot, since the cartoon wasn’t based on the actual incident.
