I went to two in-law family weddings two years ago. The family was divided right down the middle. One half was at one wedding (the other half missing), and the other half was at the second wedding (with that first half missing). DH and I were balancing on the fence between them, so we were invited to both. Family riff still not mended, nor will it ever be.

Pure insanity, @summerdog, when alleged adults can’t put their differences aside for an hour to celebrate a loved one’s love.

Sometimes you just have to make difficult decisions. My husband and I met at work, so it was difficult to not invite everyone from the office. But considering the work people would have outnumbered family, we narrowed it down to the ones who we were closest to..Hello Cathy friends! The school year is (finally) almost finished, and Lil is away for 3 days on a trip with school. I only have 2 kids, but it’s so easy with one. Although I do miss that little rascal!! :-)

We were lucky. I was able to invite the entire office to our wedding – all of 8 people (12 with spouses) – even the owners. Good move that turned out to be – we got the company condo on the beach in Sarasota Fl and the use of the company car for the two weeks of our honeymoon.

We managed to keep our total guest list to 103 including the wedding party – and no fights or arguments either!

We wouldn’t have got 345 people into the church! It only holds around a hundred. But we only had twenty guests, plus the rector, organist and choir.

    Different times, a different world.
