Not too long after I first got married, I wanted to learn how to play golf so that I could go out with my husband whenever he found the time to hit the local course. Thinking that it didn’t look all that hard to me, hubby volunteered to take me over to the local Dick’s Sporting Goods where they have a practice swing area in the back of their store so that I could see for myself whether or not I wanted (or even “needed”) to take lessons. Totally confident at how impressed he was going to be when I showed him how wellI was going to do despite never having picked up a golf club a day in my life, I took several swings at the ball, and when my club finally connected with one of them after a number of clumsy attempts (and misses!), the ball went everywhere in that room BUT straight! Who knew they could hook AND slice at the same time?!? Talk about an embarrassing humility lesson!!! My hus-band had always tried to tell me that it wasn’t as easy as the Pros on t.v. made it look and he was definitely right about that. Thank-fully, though, he had the kindness of heart to keep his “I told you so’s” to himself. I’d still like to learn how to play, but these days the absolute hubris of 20-something-year-old youth to think that I actually could with no problem at all is LONG gone (LOL)!!!!! ;-)
Hi, rgcviper! :-)
Hello and Happy Tuesday, fellow Cathy fans. Hope everyonehad a really nice day today! :-)
Personally, I’ve played golf almost my whole life, and although I can’t say I’m great at it, I really enjoy being on the course. Look forward to returning soon this spring, too.

Awwwwww! Gotta love the honeymoon phase! I tried golf with my honey but didn’t have specific golf clothes. Maybe that’s why I was so terrible! :-)
Hello and Happy Tuesday Cathy clan! Enjoy your day!

I would play golf if it weren’t for all of the masheys and dormis.

Fortunately, my husband’s favourite sport was speedway . . . and there was no way a mere girl could try that one!

She’s a keeper, Irving. Better hang on to her!
(In this instance, anyway …)
