I went to an expensive make-up party one time. One woman there was bragging that she & her husband NEVER argued. I said to her face, “You’re either a liar or a fool.” Later, she put in her (huge) order, and said, “I’d better be home the day the credit card bill shows up so my husband doesn’t see this!” I said, “NOW I know why you don’t argue; you lie to each other.” I know it was mean, but her attitude drove me nuts. (Incidentally, I did buy something, but my husband & I agreed to a set amount I could spend, as we were on a budget.)
My honey and I have been together off an on for 18 years, we don’t argue much because we know each other well and know which buttons not to push. When we do argue, which isn’t often, we usually need a couple of days to cool off and then we’re fine. This is when it helps that we’re in separate homes and not married. My aunt and uncle who raised me have been married about 37 years and separated for 5. They have no plans of divorcing, they just get along better living apart. My point is, some people just can’t live together.

Funny how the teeny tiny stuff and even the small stuff are so difficult to handle but the big stuff seems so much easier to get over. Well, most big stuff. Ok – some big stuff. Happy Friday Eve to everyone in the Cathy Clan.
