Regarding hiding purchases, I don’t think I’ve actually done that. My husband is a pretty generous guy and would probably buy me whatever so I don’t think he would care. For me, the issue would be that I probably shouldn’t be buying anything more. I should be getting rid of things rather than adding them.

    Hello Cathy friends! Happy Wednesday!

My family always had a budget. Each adult had x amount of money to do whatever with, there was this amount in the clothing budget, and as I grew up my money reached parity with my parents and then we agreed on what clothing was basic needs (having a pair of decent jeans, say) and they’d pay for and I had money added to my allowance to pick out some stuff on my own. No one was hiding purchases because we had a fair system to cover our hobbies and clothing etc

I don’t think money is the reason she hides things from Irving. She is embarrassed by the actual items she buys and doesn’t want him to see them.

Cathy’s attitude towards her extra food seems to be, “If no one sees me eat it, then the calories don’t count.”

Lots of people are closet eaters…the gal who started Weight Watchers was a closet eater. I suppose if you are overweight and complaining about it, you wouldn’t want your hubby to find out that you just bought 5 candy bars and several bags of potato chips.
