I don’t think it has anything to do with Valentine’s day. They should both celebrate their anniversaries together, commemorating their love. Other than that, I think his logic makes no sense at all. His proposal made Valentine’s Day another reason to remember their relationship, but that doesn’t mean he can no longer be romantic. And romance doesn’t always mean gifts. How they celebrate is totally up to them. Romantic gestures can be totally free. I wish people would stop associating Valentine’s day with “required flowers, forced gifts, etc”. It’s just supposed to be a day for love, nothing more, nothing less. Not only do I celebrate it with my spouse, but also my kids and my mother.
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Tuesday! Thank you, Sis for your response from the other day! I’ve responded to you, but I hope you have time because it’s long (I’m sorry!! I have a lot on my mind :-)). Hugs to you for your kindness, and I hope your mom is doing well!
We buy a card and go out to dinner….if we can find someplace that isn’t screwed up because of the holiday. Last year we tried to go out the week before and both restaurants we tried were closed because it was Super Bowl Sunday. So then we tried to go out the weekend of and one had a private party and the other was booked solid. So, we just happened to be leaving for vacation the next day and went to Cleveland, found a lovely restaurant not too far from the highway and had a perfectly wonderful dinner. Going to repeat this year.

To Irving: Ya should’ve said, “It’ll remind us to buy each other extra chocolate each year to celebrate the occasion.”
Because, c’mon … who doesn’t like chocolate?
