Cathy: Are you sending Halloween cards just to friends and family or also to the pets of friends and family? Irving: What? Cathy: I found a really cute card for our dogs to send Charlene's cat, but I want to make sure you don't already have her cat covered! Irving: Covered with what? Cathy: With a card! The cat's Halloween card! Irving: You send Halloween cards?? Cathy: Of course! It's fun and nice! Irving: It's silly and wasteful! Cathy: Fine. It's one of the ten billion "silly and wasteful" things women do that make loved ones feel special! Women keep the human race connected! Irving: Women are insane! Cathy: ... Hi. I need an "I'm-sorry-I-made-you-crazy-however-I'm right-and-you're-wrong" card. Saleswoman: Aisle 3. Very popular as we move into the happy holiday season.

Gives them something to do so they don’t eat up all the Halloween candy before the trick or treaters get any.

Sometimes I send a Halloween card to my sweetie because his birthday is October 28—kill two birds with one stone.

I sent a few Halloween cards last year and thought about doing it again this year, but decided not to. Cards might make people happy for a moment but they are just a waste of money and create more trash.

A nice gesture from Cathy, but as usual, she takes it to the [eye-rolling] extreme …
HI, MOM. Good Sunday Morning, Clan.

I don’t do cards. Not for birthdays, Christmas or any other time – and certainly not for Halloween! Sorry, Cathy, I didn’t realize I was helping to bring civilization down while I was saving the environment…

I always send my mom a Halloween card, and will send my kids cards after they move out of the house. I love cards and think they make people feel loved and connected and bring a smile to everyone’s face. I like picking them out, and the recipient always enjoys them knowing they were thought of. They are only made out of paper, which are a renewable resource that is actually good for environment. The mail will be delivered anyway, so I don’t see any harm in sending a card from time to time, and it’s actually more environmentally harmful to make everything electronic (look up the environmental impact of the internet… it’s not as harmless as you think and we are techies in our house. We definitely know how much electricity and power is needed to keep databases and multiple servers running in a cool environment) Having said all that, I don’t send cards to people who don’t want them and I definitely don’t send cards for stupid reasons like Cathy wants to. Pick and choose, people… sometimes a generic rule doesn’t make sense all the time.
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Sunday! I hope you’re enjoying the day!

A card can bring a smile! And, that is worth it anytime someone wants to send one for any nice reason. They say I’m thinking of you. (And, they ARE recyclable, too!!)
