The last time we visited my husband’s mother, our older daughter was 1-1/2 and I was pregnant with daughter #2. We couldn’t stay with her (she had “reasons”), so we stayed with his sister & her family. She has 3 kids, the youngest, a girl, just 1 year older than our girl, and she would go through our stuff and throw it all around our room. She would also burst into the bathroom (no lock) when I was giving our girl a bath…and was never disciplined for either action: “it’s just the way it is; your daughter will do it, too, when she gets to this age.” Thankfully, she never did.
I was truly blessed to have a wonderful mother-in-law that I loved and didn’t mind visiting in the least. She’s been gone for 15 years now and I still think about and miss her every single day. :-(

If you give in to this kind of immature selfish behavior, the perpetrator will make you miserable.

My MIL died at 101. I still have her with me when I look at my dh’s face. (he looks just like her, especially now that he is older)
