Irving (out of frame): I'm putting the laundry away so you can relax, Cathy! Cathy: Don't dump all the loose, clean socks in the drawer, honey! Irving: Why not? Cathy: That's not our sock drawer system! Irving: That's what we always do! Cathy: That's what we always do when we don't have time to match the socks, fold them neatly, and line them up in the same direction by color and type! THAT is our system! Irving: But since we've never once had time to do THAT system, let's admit that dumping is our NEW system! Cathy: Random dumping is GIVING UP! It is NOT our new system! Irving: Why not?? Dumping's way more user- friendly! Cathy: In electronics, you're desperate for the system upgrade. In drawers, you're first in line for the system downgrade. Irving: While we're at it, let's lose those ridiculous silverware dividers in the kitchen!

Those two have a lot of socks. I have white socks and blacks. Makes it easy to match them.

Some may not care but let me put on a pair of miss matched socks and I just know I’m going to end up at someone’s house who demands no shoes in the house.

At least she doesn’t have those sock dividers in her drawer. They’d stand there all day filing all those socks into the proper compartments.

As SnowBunny said above, that’s a lot of socks.
As for me, I go ahead and fold ‘em, since the process doesn’t take that long. The end results make folding worth it, too.

I buy black (for work) or white (recreation) socks, all the same brand and style. I don’t waste my time sorting or pairing. Believe I have saved hundreds if not thousands of hours over my life time.

My socks have to match so my wife does the matching and rolling the cuff over. I do tend to sort them by colour – blue, grey, black as I am required to match the colour of my socks to whatever I am wearing. (My wife’s rules – evidently wearing black socks with blue jeans is not acceptable)
Finally got a little more snow yesterday so everything looks beautiful again. After a few weeks of unusually mild weather we are getting back to near normal for January. The north wind was a little cold on the face while I was out clearing the snow off the porch and in front of the garage. My wonderful neighour with his beautiful tractor did the rest.

This here’s a pitch for Gold Toe socks. I like ’em and I buy ’em for myself. They fit my small feet, and have just the right amount of stretch.

Cathy was just sitting there, casually reading the newspaper ….. so how did she (and Irving) not have the “time” to match, fold, and put away their socks after the laundry was done?
