I have to admit, my mobile is indeed replacing my wallet. If it weren’t for a drivers license I wouldn’t need to carry a wallet any more.

Irving makes it seem like you have to do all of that, all the time, which is overwhelming. A phone just gives you the options to do things whenever you want and only using your phone. I love that my smart phone makes it possible to do things without dragging a huge purse around like Cathy. If I have some time while waiting, I can respond to an email, sign up for an informational session, learn a few vocabulary words, whatever I want. Or I could just zone out and ignore my phone… my choice. I’m with vaughnrl where I hardly have to bring anything with me, other than my phone, car key, and a small wristlet with my license and some cash (you never know). It is freeing.

I know I will probably eventually have to get a smart phone to replace my flip phone. However, when I do, all notification sounds will be turned off other than a ring tone for actual phone calls. Anybody expecting me to respond immediately to a text message is going to be disappointed.

The difference is that now you have to notify/thank/correspond with people in 5 different modes instead of just writing a note.
