“Fury” is thy name in our lives today. It seems that every one is furious about something, not just the price to fly. How about the price to just drive to work and back? How mad do we get at the guy who just pulled out of nowhere in front of us? Cut in line at the bank? The phone calls all the live long day from telemarketers? Our favorite TV show being cancelled? We are not a peaceful people any more.

All the fees are pretty ridiculous. Granted, I will pay extra for legroom, which I didn’t used to have to do. It used to be just another seat. I also don’t think they need to serve food for any flight 2 hours and under, but they better pass that savings along to the customer (yeah, I know they won’t).
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Thursday! Going on our first family trip tomorrow so I will be sporadic for a while. I hope everyone is having a good summer!

Which is exactly why I always pick the fare level that has luggage and seat selection fees built in. Of course if I was travelling without checked luggage I would not but that does not happen often anymore.
Have a great Friday eve.

I think all of the travel websites (including airlines and hotels) should be required to include all mandatory fees and taxes in the overall price. If there is a gas tax or a “resort fee” that can’t be avoided or changed, it belongs in the overall total. The same goes for things like the AirBnB cleaning fees. Failing to display that information violates truth in advertising as far as I am concerned, especially since those fees are sometimes BIG. After that, there should be dropdowns where you can select common add-ons (like having a carry on bag or checked in luggage) that would show in a sub-total, with an overall total number at the bottom. It would make trip planning MUCH easier and be excellent customer service.

This strip falls into the category of “seems like an exaggeration but actually true.”

They get away with it because people are willing to pay for it…listening to the latest airline atrocities on NPR a few days ago just cemented my resolve to never fly again.
