Mom: Remember the olden days, Cathy? We used to find a gift in a store and then run all over town comparing it to the same item in all the other stores. Cathy: Then came the catalog revolution... then we'd not only compare the same item in all the stores, but we'd go home and compare the same item in all the catalogs. Mom: But no more. Now we have our computers. Now when we see a gift in a store we'll compare it to the same item in all the other stores... ...Then we'll compare it to the same item in all the catalogs... Cathy: ...And then we'll boot up. Log on, and compare it to the same item in a worldwide web of 25,000,000 online shopping sites!! Mom: Whew, what a time-saver. Dad: Did you get your Christmas shopping all finished?

Who’s got time for that?

I finished my Christmas shopping a couple of decades ago. I stopped celebrating Christmas, and now I can actually relax and enjoy December, since it’s no longer the most stressful time of the year.

I love Christmas so, so much! But it’s still November, so get lost with all that. Not what I wanted to say, but this is a family strip. ;)

Sorry, I know I’m wrong but unless someone tells me exactly what they want for Christmas they get a little box with some money in it. …and maybe a piece of candy.

Technology: a blessing or a curse? You be the judge, though I suspect it might be a little of both. AAACK.
HI, MOM. Good Sunday Morning, “Cathy” Clan.

All that comparing will lead you to remorse. At the Bath and Body Works Face Book page, there is whine after whine of stocking up on items from one of their sales, and have all their items go down in price a few days later from ANOTHER, better sale in the same store. They are also competing for the crown of who got the lowest prices. If you had coupons, you were at the top of the list.

Let’s all wish our karlykru a Happy Hanukkah this year. I will be thinking of you and our other commenters who celebrate this holiday, at sunset today.

I have never done comparison shopping for the local stores. I find the nearest store that carries what I want then go buy it. I figure the money it would cost me in gas to drive from store to store would be more than whatever I might have saved. I do look for cheaper prices when shopping online to a certain extent. There can be an incredible difference in pricing. An RGB LED strip can cost as little as $35 and as much as $125 if purchased from a store in the USA or Canada. The same strip was $7.95 including shipping direct from China (thank you eBay). I do try to purchase from local stores or, when not available, from a Canadian source but there are limits.

Happy Chanukah, karlykru!! I’m with hendelca…I usually buy whatever I want from the nearest store or order it online. Sometimes I look at prices, but again, there is the price of gas and my time is worth something. I’m so happy this year that, since we couldn’t see anybody last year for Christmas, the gifts are all still waiting for them and some of them are even wrapped. Some of my friends and even some of the relatives said not to bother sending last year because the mail was such a mess and one friend insisted that we just keep the gifts for this year. Makes life really easy this year.
