Cathy: What a workout! I'm exhausted! Completely spent! I'm.... 6 1/2 minutes?? I only ran for 6 1/2 minutes?? I still have 23 1/2 minutes to go?? I can't stand it!! My legs are screaming! My lungs are bursting! I can't swallow! Hang on!...Hang on!...Keep going! Keep going! Keep going! ...I did it! Finished!! Got my second wind!! Rallied and pushed past exhaustion!! I ran for a full... 2 1/2 minutes?? Proof that exercise prolongs life: The last 9 minutes just lasted an hour.

You went from 6 1/2 minutes down to 2 1/2 minutes. Cathy did you run so fast time went backwards.

She lasted longer than I would’ve.

Well, at least she looked like she was working out for a few minutes. Maybe tomorrow she can add a minute to the run or a couple of minutes to some sit-ups. Head slap! Oh yeah. “Cathy”

I might be able to do a one-minute run. On a good day.

There was a time when I ran everywhere. I had just gotten out of military service in the Rockies and had oodles of extra red blood cells for running in Santa Barbara. I ran from the UC to downtown one afternoon just for something to do. It was about four miles longer than I thought it was going to be. I did take the bus back.
However, that was a loooooong time ago. I only weighed 120 pounds. If I tried running like that now, my arches would collapse, my ankles would snap and I’d have to take an ambulance home.
Diet first! Start with reasonable static exercise before working up to a Thermopylae marathon. (By the way, that famous marathon runner DIED for his pains.)

Hey—ya gotta start somewhere. I love to walk, but running is not my thing. I’d be lucky to last a minute …
HI, MOM. Happy Sunday, “Cathy” Clan.

I feel her pain. I can walk forever but can run in 10 second bursts anyone witnessing my run would call it a slow jog.

My husband and I walk our subdivision every day — which is approximately 2.8 miles long from start to finish — and have been doing this for the past 10 months since his emergency gallbladder removal surgery at the beginning of last August. You’d think that after all this time I’d be used to it by now, wouldn’t you? Nope! I do fine on level ground but to this day, I’m still huffing and puffing my way up every single one of those hills — just like I did at the very beginning — so I have to give Cathy credit for having enough energy and stamina to run nine minutes when I probably couldn’t even run one (minute) if my life depended on it!

I walk about 3 miles/day but running ended when my knees said no. The doc was happy with my stress test last week, so I guess I’m doing ok. I don’t recommend a stress test with a mask on tho.

I prefer walking to running. Less stress on the joints and it can be really enjoyable.
