Yup, ironically the difference between ASAP and “as soon as possible” is that one means NOW and the other means at your earliest convenience. If it’s important it be done now, it’ll be really important tomorrow.
Cathy didn’t fall off the turnip truck yesterday. She knows exactly what’s going on. Unfortunately, a customer is a customer, and you’ve either got to make them happy or be prepared to stand up to them. Good luck, Mr. Pickley.
Hello Cathy friends! Happy Thursday! Have a great day, all!
Unfortunately too many people have discovered that making everything an ‘emergency’ will get their requests done first – even if they are not that important.
I recall way back when working for a company an ‘urgent’ request came in at 3:00pm for a new report that had to be done in time for the meeting the next morning. I ended up programming all night to get it done and was able to hand it to my boss as I went home at 8:00am for some sleep. When the report was presented at the meeting the response was “That is interesting” and the actual report was ignored – and never asked for again. Talk about a wasted effort. Maybe I should have used Cathy’s response but I was young and eager to please.

If it is needed and goes into a black hole, does it make a difference?

Lack of proper planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
