I believe our man Sweatbox suffers from severe hyperhidrosis. No, I’m not a doctor but I played one on t.v.

Put the screws to him, Lee! Make him sweat (even more than usually)! Something’s not right here, with Sweatbox, Stephen, the Baux family vault, the Cold Case murder, and Tawara’s tale all to sort out. Puzzle pieces, waiting to be put together correctly….

Is he shocked that his brother’s vault has been disturbed or that someone has discovered that there’s more in there than his brother. I suspect the latter.

tsull, here in the Central Time Zone the strip generally shows up at midnight – exactly. Posters who are #1 or #2 hover over that time slot with their finger on the refresh button. To do all that, and then start complaining, is indicative of a serious problem. I think your admonition falls on deaf ears, but you are right on.

I have become bored with several cartoons after a while. I just don’t read them anymore and have dropped them from MY Comics page. Since SDM hasn’t done that, I suspect it is a case of secretly liking the strip but just can’t admit it. Something psychological going on here.

“Are the two white bars in his mouth false teeth”************I was wondering about the conflicting images of wrinkled, in-turning lips caused by toothlessness and the apparent full set of teeth visible in Sweat’s mouth.

Actually, I’m enjoying the pace, would you prefer another story like the Measles arc, that was so rushed that, it ended WAY too fast, just as it was getting good?

This comment is meant as a serious discussion point, NOT trying to bait you in any way:

Do you enjoy other forms of fiction, such as books? Good pacing in fiction does not usually mean action from start to finish.

The nature of a daily comic strip is such that at times it may SEEM to drag. Try waiting a couple of weeks, or even a month, and then click through the whole month at one reading. That would be akin to having a comic book in your hands, and reading the collected strips all at once.

When I was a kid, we had the Harvey reprints of Dick Tracy in comic book form, and at the same time, there was a daily adventure unfolding in the Cleveland Press. (Plain Dealer had Sunday’s strip) My friends and I had fun reading both, and we had fun speculating about what would happen next in the newspaper strip. That’s what most of us are doing here.

Look at what’s happened so far: A mystery from the past has come to Tracy’s attention, and while he is interviewing folks with knowledge of past events, a Chester Gould style coincidence happens in another part of the city, which has a tie in to his present case. And a new quirky character has been introduced. All in 3 weeks. That’s not too bad of a story telling pace. I say relax and see what happens next.

And Night-Gaunt, when I first read your post, I thought it said “Some people just want attention”. I guess speed-reading has its errors; you said “action”, not “attention”.

His brother died in 1947? The brother must have been very young.

Whenever SDM wants to stir things up, he posts his stock “boy, this comic strip is boring, zzzzzz” comment, knowing a lot of people will leap to the bait, so he can have some fun.I just find SDM’s familar comment – and the response – boring. If he doesn’t like it, so what? Nothing anyone can say will change that. If that’s all SDM has to say today, okay, maybe he’ll have something interesting to offer tomorrow. But jeez – all this about somebody who doesn’t like the strip?Talk about “much ado about nothing!”
