We’ve mentioned it before, but Kaz is going to get into trouble hanging out at The Bucket with the students. And Gil specifcally told them to foul No. 33 or No. 40. Whoever fouled No. 23 instead should be reprimanded. No excuses about him being the guy with the ball.
I’ll be the first to admit I know less than nothing about basketball, much less coaching strategy, but its beyond me why someone who is behind would deliberately foul in the last seconds of the game. Seriously – on the off chance they’d miss the free throw? Seems a bit, I dunno – stupid.
On the other hand, if there were a position dedicated to the purpose of garnering a foul, I’d be the Foul King.
not to be confused with the absurd Fowl King, which seems to be running the strip lately
Bobby is reeking from drinking cheap whiskey from that flask on the table. It has already caused his buddy’s hair to fall out. I hope Bobby didn’t back over the peacock on the way to the game, or he’ll be drinking with Moon.
Fouling when behind in the final seconds is almost the only way to get the ball back. It is used at every level almost every close game. Although some coaches don’t know when to quit.
Pretty small crowds at these games anymore. I hear the Peacock Fighting contests out behind the bucket are starting to draw in some pretty big numbers, though. Rumor has it some of the peacocks have even been getting loose and they’ve been seen around town.
P3 – NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, now they are going to show Bobby the peacock. Just when you think the storyline couldn’t possibly keep going in this ridiculous direction….
The other aspect to the strategy is that you can make three points on your possession by sinking one from beyond the arc while your opponent is making at most two from the foul line. That part doesn’t work of course if you foul a three-point shooter. Then you have to fall back on them missing free throws again, which is always part of the strategy.
They actually offer AP courses at good ol’ MHS? Since Thorp diverted so much money to athletics, I’m surprised that there is enough faculty and resources to do it.
