It can be difficult to remember the lessons of history. Especially things that happened way back yesterday.A lot of the conversations between Calvin and Hobbes go downhill from the very beginning, and sometimes they drop off abruptly.Hobbes remembered his mother saying, “If your friend were going to jump off a cliff, would you jump off with him?”
Hi Wiseguy411. See the final comment on April 9th. I posted a Peanuts strip for you with perhaps the first appearance of the wall, but not yet the philosophy wall. Also see the second Pearls Before Swine strip that I posted on April 17th. Stephen often has Rat and Pig standing at the seashore to discuss philosophical things, but here he has borrowed the wall from Charles Schulz.
“Shallow men believe in luck. Strong men believe in cause and effect.”—Ralph Waldo Emerson“I busted a mirror and got seven years bad luck, but my lawyer thinks he can get me five.”—Stephen Wright“I get no respect. The way my luck is running, if I was a politician I would be honest.”—Rodney Dangerfield“My luck is getting worse and worse. Last night, for instance, I was mugged by a Quaker.”—Woody Allen
WE have the same problem but unlike dictators we hold elections ,they may not like it but they got to get the likes of you and I to vote them in.Nothing wrong with that part of the picture.
However, I have a good friend who over the years has had some nineteen foster children, adopted four of them and had three of his own.
Several of the foster children visit every year, at Christmas, with their own children that call him Grampa.
I am truly distressed if your experience was not similar, and I am aware that some foster parents deserve to be incarcerated for at least the period that they were foster parents.
In addition they should be made to pay back all public funds they received as well as a hefty fine.
I hope that all is well with yourself and that life will treat you better in future.
" Why, man he doth bestride the narrow world like a Colossus; while we, petty men, walk underneath his hugh legs and peep about only to find ourselves dishonorable graves? Men at some times are masters of their fate. The fault, dear Brutus, lies in our stars, but within our stars that we are underlings."

I don’t believe in luck. I don’t even like using the word.

Doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result, makes you something. But it does not make you unlucky.

Maybe by not heading down a cliff in a wagon your ‘luck’ or fate will change and you might not be a victim? Just saying…

Some people just never learn from their mistakes. And luck has nothing to do with it.
