Tacopielvr said: “I don’t remember Hobbes the commentator being MIA this long before. I hope everything is good on his end.”Thanks, Tacopielvr, and sorry to create concern. I’m having a very busy summer with a heavy workload, plus playing beach volleyball and working out. So I haven’t had much time for the comics. Just paying a 1-day visit today, and then I’ll be away again.
Here are the lyrics from a very old song:Go on home, your mother’s calling,Your father got stuck in the wachine machine,Go on home, your mother’s calling,They can’t make your old man come clean.Go on home, your mother’s calling,Your father got stuck in the garbage can,Go on home, your mother’s calling,They’ve come to collect your old man.
Hahaha this one here is a keeper and I cannot remember how often I pulled a panel two stunt on my mom, boy some things are universal no matter what part of the world you come from …and yes of course the latter part of my statement is made redundant by the “universal” bit
When I was 8 or 9 I had a curfew that happened to coincide it getting dark. Then the DST switch happened. I was out that evening, and by the time I noticed it was getting dusky, it was time to go home. But I was used to having a little buffer between dusk and curfew, and felt cheated. I decided I would pretend that I hadn’t noticed the time, and went home almost an hour late. That was one scary trip home. And it wasn’t because it was dark. I don’t remember how much trouble I got into over it, but it didn’t matter. I didn’t do it again.
Hey Hobbes!! Good to have you back! The last panel is only true until about age 40. Then every minute you’re awake after midnight is insomnia.I know this…I finally fell asleep about 4 this morning.
@Aaron Saltzer: It was a joke on the word “calling,” because the expression “found her calling” means “found her career” or “found her meaning and purpose in life.”In the last panel, Calvin is stalling by pretending to lose his shoe, so that he can tell his Mom that it is lost . That way he will have to stay out longer to search for it before he can come in and go to bed.
Sorry if I sound “rude” but this is a American comic so It can have some business terms in it. As I have said be for to all others their is nothing wrong with learning ‘English’ or American Business terms.
Hello all. Hobbes your not the only one gets scares here on C&H. I have little free time then back on studies. I just finished a summer class and passed with an A. Only difference taking classes on-line as I do not want to be the oldest student in class. I’m well aware others will score better on tests. At least I’m trying. For 2-3 years here in KS we went through a bad draught. Now wondering if draught is over as July was the rainiest month in long time. Starting August as started being rainy. Then Saturday night someone SW of us started fireworks nice display and not 4th either. Last night very vicious storm we lost power for couple of hours and been raining.
As for Calvin, he and other kids going for all the summer they can in between rain. Stalling as long as can before school starts here central 15th of August.

Calvin’s Mom certainly seems to have found her calling.

When your mother is young, she spends a lot of time calling you. When she grows older, it is your turn to spend some time calling her.

Hi Dha Dha. I miss the comics, but otherwise I’m “doing great,” having a great summer. I hope things are going well in Thailand.

Hi LX013. I see that you are having a heat wave in Austria. Well, at least it’s never too hot for reading the comics.

Mom lesson #16 – Always call your kids (and husband too) at least 15 minutes before you really want them to come in!
