I wish Alex would give herself a new ‘do… she’s had that one since middle school, I think.

Reading this reminds me how basically nice and kind most characters in this strip actually are. With the exceptions of REALLY bad guys and creeps and jerks (personally, I put JJ and Zeke at the top of that category) we see them being nice to each other. Well, the Red Idiot is pretty thoughtless, but even BD has learned to be kind.

Just found a website for a new company relating to kindness http://www.kynded.com/welcome/ —it will be interesting seeing how the concept works.

@diggitt I checked out that site, and while it is not all “up and running” yet, it’s an interesting and laudable concept. My local newspaper often runs letters to the editor thanking people for acts of kindness. Sometimes they were nameless strangers who appeared, helped out, then disappeared; other times they’re public figures, teachers, or others who can be identified. I think people do want wider channels for the expression of gratitude, appreciation, supportiveness, and so on. We are flooded every day with evidence of man’s inhumanity; this morning all news channels I looked at were simultaneously delving into the inhumanity of the Dorner case in California. We all need relief from that, and reinforcement of the fact that the vast majority of us really are kind and caring!

Alex’s sweetness with her grandma reminds me of my own college student, who also had to deal with a divorce in her childhood and one disappointing parent, but who has blossomed into a gracious, loving young woman who reaches out to help others (including that parent!).

The “young” among us are notoriously self-absorbed, and Alex has expressed her share of that, but her good qualities are steadily coming to the fore. Along with her unique hair.

Ah to attain such heights of compassion, forgiveness, love.I continue to work on not being snarky to watch my tone, and also reacting with aplomb to snarky when it comes my way. I like attitudinal too.

The lyrics are derivative of Sean Hannity and the beat was taken from a Lee Atwater bootleg, but since you can dance to it, I’ll give your song a 75 on the rock that snark meter.

Hang in there. It took ove two years and and a inside whistle l blower to surface the Watergate coverup. Only problem is the Clintons make Nixon look like cub scout so it may take time and a run in 2016 to get the facts.

Careful there. You may have unleashed the gerbils of war. All the little conspiracy weirdos are revising their Vince Foster monologues. Of course, they may injure themselves by abruptly switching from Kenyan communist Benghazi cover-ups.

Snark is a portmanteau of “snide” and “sarcastic”.

@wildcatherder “Snark is a portmanteau of “snide” and “sarcastic”.”

Thanks! I’d always wondered about that. And Lewis Carroll’s “The Hunting Of The Snark” was of no help, of course.
