At ye olde Grocery store with my Dad. KK: Pops...can you grab those bands over there and carry them to the car? Dad: Why don't you put em in a bag? My bags are full and I don't wanna waste another plastic bag just for a few bananas!! Dad: How bout you carry en and I'll carry your grocery bags!! I aint letting anybody see me with bands!! when I was your age, do you know what people would say about a blackman carrying banana? That they eat healthy food?

According to surveys taken of old black and Hispanic men, things are indeed getting better. They describe this as the best time of their lives just because there is less discrimination. That Keith Jr. should be unaware of this former cliche is itself heartening.
