If Quill was a senior when he first came to Pittsville, he could conceivably be graduated by now. If he’s out of school, more doors can open for him getting over to the US without having to jack around with school. Regarding the issue of Luann going to Oz—don’t know about student visas, but decades ago I considered emigrating and checked out Canada and Australia. Both have very stringent immigration rules—Canada has a point system: you get points for having relatives in Canada, being under a certain age, having a job lined up, speaking French, having job skills or degrees they wanted, and so on. Hard to remember back in the mists of time now, but IIRC Oz was very, very picky. They only wanted people in certain professions. I was surprised—I had lots and lots of education, but neither country would have had me. So—maybe Luann could marry a native and get in that way if she were to consider relocating to Oz? Then work on getting citizenship? Other than that, from my brief research years ago, she absolutely would not make the cut to immigrate there, unless she was a brain surgeon or something they wanted. Quill would have an easier time by far relocating here. Totally doubt they’d pick a third place and both have to relocate.

Just these things considered, I think Luann’s going to wind up in the USA, and Quill will either relocate here and join the regular cast, or they will have to break up.

Luann needs to concentrate on the important things. Like the art of LISTENING.

ChihuahuaMama, totally what I was thinking, once I stopped thinking about how in blazes they could possibly reside in the same place. :-) Hard to see how Quill could put up with her histrionics for long.

May not be able to talk much once he gets a job. Luann better listen carefully. Quill has been acting like he cares a lot for her and verbally announcing it lately.

Anyone else think it’s telling how she’s emphatically NOT paying attention to Quill when he’s talking about concrete plans to get back to the US? Of course this is fiction, but if it were real life I’d wager Luann would drop him like a hot potato if he showed up. She’s not interested in anything she can have. She only wants what she can’t have—because that’s safe. True, Quill WAS the only exception in 25 years, that brief moment in her bedroom before his dad called him away, but Greg knew Quill was out.

I would say Luann is behind Brad emotionally, being commensurately younger – and look how long it took for Brad to start acting like an adult. He’s still learning in many ways. The point is, Luann is nowhere near ready for a stable relationship, or even for success in college. Which means she’ll be a typical freshman. Much pain in her future, I see.

I went to university and our class had a Yank in it. Didn’t seem to be a problem. The high Aussie dollar at the moment would work in Quill’s favour.

I notice the artwork and it has me imaging Luann transforming into a mini-skirted superhero (uh,make that super heroine, she’s female) and beating the living snot out of Tiffany!

ah HA! THIS is how Greg is going to play it safe and not write Luann a real adult relationship that pretty much all his fans would like to see. She’s going to annoy Quill with how obsessed she is over this whole Tiffany thing, he’s going to say “never mind Luann, I thought you were more of a grown up than this, why don’t we take a break til you can stop being so petty?”, and that will be that, yet another easy way out of having to write a REAL relationship for Luann. Well played, Mr. Evans, well played indeed. You REALLY had us fooled there for a while.

Weeeeeeeeell, Today’s strip has REALLY Blown holes in the Notion that “Our Gal has FINALLY GROWN up.”

I once read somewhere that in the beginning, Luann and Tiffany were the Best of Friends. But they let a “Pretty Boy”’ named Aaron Hill, come between them. And ULTIMATELY, Mr. Hill wasn’t WORTH it. And NOW it’s happening AGAIN with “Mr. Perfect”. It’s NOT about Caring. It’s NOT Love. It’s all about two “GIRLS” playing “HEY! LOOK what I Got!” Over some Joker seven(?) or eight thousand miles away, who in the END won’t be worth it.Tiffany and Luann? Call a TRUCE, BURY the HATCHET and get on with Your studies. You BOTH have College and Careers to THINK about! And for ONCE in Your SILLY little lives, Consider SUBSTANCE over FLASH when choosing a perspective Mate!

Luann, if you’re going to rant, that’s what your diary is for. Now, before Quill clicks off and blocks you, sit down and enjoy the peace of having him around and listen to him talk about getting back to you. Time to stop letting Tiffany have power of your life.

Luann’s love for drama where there doesn’t need to be is going to end her future with Quill. Talk about not seeing the forest for the trees. Sigh….

It seems that Tiffany knows how to manipulate Luann into getting upset without Luann realizing it. When Luann tried to rile up Tiffany, she was unsuccessful…

Also, just a quick observation about the other day— Luann might go to college, major in Theater, then graduate with high hopes of fame & fortune, only to find out that she has deluded herself! That reminds me of the Jonah Daytona “career.”

I had posted before reading the comments but after reading I deleted my post. Seems many agree with me, Luann is acting very immature. She is only in a contest with Tiffany over getting things, people included. So Quill, who appears to be a nice guy, is wasting his time. Hopefully he will be the one to break off this “relationship”. Maybe Luann will learn something for a change. At 17 she should be able to listen to someone else considering that he is probably the one inconvienced by the time situation. She is not in love with this young man, he is just a trophy to show Tiffany. She is using Quill. IMHO.

The process of growing up is not linear. She’s 16, caught squarely between being a girl and being a woman. She must be expected to occasionally act like both.
