Is Elzie Segar Popeye blowing bubbles ? I wanna see a thick plume of black comin’ outa there !^^It’s NOT, Popeye, it’s Andy Capp as if drawn by Elzie Segar…and yes, those ARE bubbles
Herman Munster made a lot of people green with envy…..When I was in the 4th grade I got a pine tree seedling to plant for Arbor Day. I named it Herman, after Herman Munster!@MikeyjLiked them both today (sorry for turning into one of your fanboys, but I call ’em like I see ’em). I can picture Flo as the Sea Hag……../@Number Three Get well soon.
Much thanks! Is farm4 a handle? that was the hangup . . .couldn’t remember ‘flicker’ even though . . . but I think of that Strip whenever Polly [Her Name] gets mentioned. Smythe was still really embellishing the ink back when! and i have a fondness for the single-panels anyways. . .z
My goof. I meant Cappeye. The bubbles make a mockery of the debauchery that the Capp name stands for !^^It’s not Cappeye, it’s just what Andy might look like if Segar had created him… all the “Andy by”s use this premise… what if ____ had created Andy Capp instead of Smythe ; as for the bubbles, I am a staunch “No smoking” advocate and I would feel like a hypocrite if I drew him actually smoking
I too am a staunch non smoker.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I haven’t smoked a cigarette in 27 years. When I quit, I was a 2 – 3 pack a day smoker ( usually, non-filtered, although towards the end I did go to filtered cigarettes that contained no saltpeter, so they burned slower ).What a lot of our younger readers don’t understand, is that back when Reg created Andy, almost everyone smoked. And the average English ’working-class" bloke, was much like his French and Spanish counterpart. He always had a “fag” stuck in gob.One of the things that always struck me, and this was probably a hangover from the rationing days of WWII, whenever anyone pulled out a packet of cigarettes in the pub, or in company, they always offered the pack around.I never saw that in the States ! And tobacco was more expensive in Europe, in those days.

And how do we know that andy’s sister-in-law isn’t Herman Munster?
Number Three almost 12 years ago
Nooooooo! I didn’t donate four pints all at once… I really WOULD be ill then!
I donate one pint every 3 months and the blood which was lost restores itself in the body after around 48 hours.
I was feeling OK and had no side effects after my donation yesterday.
What Number Six meant was that something happened AFTER the donation which is making me feel under the weather.
I saw your comment and had to put my input in. I hope you’re doing OK today.
To Afficionado & Beviek…Number Three is OK and will be back here very soon once I’m feeling 100%.

@ChalkeyeThis was the only “Polly” I could find.
Buggerlugs almost 12 years ago
@ChalkeyeI notice that Flo said her eldest sister’s name is Polly. How many sisters does she have? Is Polly the Herman Munster look-alike?

Fred Gwynne played Herman Munster.
