And before anyone gets morbid & says that that is the ball that beaned Sweatbox (and helped to cause his demise), so why return it to her, it’s probably the one that went through the mausoleum door that started this case.
A delightfully sentimental, Dickensian pause in our never-ending adventures! Good for Toad, good for Mr. Mole! I hope he and Mrs. Spencer have happiness ahead of them.
I wonder who the “our friends” are that Toad is referring to? Could it be George Takei and company? Perhaps they’ll take over sponsorship of the softball league.
Well, I know it’s “picky – picky”, but… I think SDM is right this time. By size ratio to hands that IS a baseball, not a softball. At least not in the league I played in. In fact it always looked like a baseball all the way through the story to me. But I’m not sure that it’s important enough to have brought it up.

Hand Fungus . . . ?As an Art ‘expert’ of sorts, (and now speaking of Hands), thought you might have ’ noticed ’ that Tracy’s come correctly SIZED these days. And mention that was often a problem in past years (?)
Most people try to find positive and interesting things to say about the strip, yet it appears, a few seem to look in the mirror for inspiration —before they ’ comment ’ ?

COWARDS are afraid to either stand behind their words or apologize for them, they just slither away!!!!! LOL!!!!-——————————————————————————————————————-.Just who exactly were you referring to as a COWARD?
Maybe some “skeletons” will fall out of the mayor’s closet in a subsequent story…************************That’s what I’m expecting. Characters in Tracyville never seem to truly disappear and when the team has left unresolved issues it gives them a perfect opportunity to bring a character back somewhere down the line. If I live long enough I’m looking forward to Toad being a big-time ball player when she grows up.
Some people ain’t never happy unless they’re carping about something.Gotta hand it to the present crew that’s doing Dick Tracy, these arcs have been enjoyable— a far cry from when the famous detective was hiding from bad guys and the crime had to be solved by somebody else.
Hmmm…. The first panel has Mrs. Spencer thanking Tracy for saving Toad’s life, she should be thanking Mole, actually, he’s the one who put his life on the line for that little girl!
I, too, was wondering why Mrs. Spencer was thanking DT for rescuing Toad when Mole got to her first. I figure that she did thank Mole (offscreen), but it can’t be denied that SB took off once Tracy arrived. They both helped in Toad’s rescue; we only saw Tracy get the thanks, though.
I’m all for a spin-off strip featuring Mr. Mole and Toad. I love seeing them together, and think it could be a synthesis between Dick Tracy and Gasoline Alley. I think that they’re both likaable enough that it could work!
Sure, there are a lotta unanswered questions to this mystery (Scooby Doo and the gang would’ve answered them already, and in a half hour yet!). The thing is, life is never that easy, and dangling plot threads can lead to further sub-plots and stories, and being a fan of continuity, I look forward to both (The MM subplot has been going on for how many months now? How cool is that!).
Lotsa good stuff going on in DT these days. Maybe one day, Team Tracy will be allowed to do story arcs that last 6-7 months that Gould would sometimes do. What a story that would be!

It is good to see some of Dick Tracy’s old foes reformed and are now productive citizens.

Actually, Toad could have had as a souvenir the ball she used to help catch a bad guy.

Love it that Tracy had that Sharpie handy. You can tell Toad is enjoying signing her first autograph.

Thanks for continuing to make Dick Tracey a top of the line strip, Mike and Joe. I can’t wait for the new story arc to start.

MM will be glimpsed next week before the next adventure. After that and a one week breater, she takes center stage.
