Woman: And with babies on the way. Yikes. Alex: Yeah, pretty crazy, huh? Woman: Picked a delivery platform yet? Alex: We think Mass General. Still shopping.

“Delivery platform”? That’s a new one on me!

Delivery platform (for those who don’t know) is method by which web content is delivered:http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_delivery_platform

@Newshound41 Thanks; I would never have thought to look it up. I just thought it was girl-slang for “birthing center.”

I hope they have a higher capacity hosting site than a trailer.

Combination of nerd talk and mom talk. The twins are going to have interesting childhoods.

Definitely, although a friend of mine, years ago, was hit by a car in front of Mass General. Not expected to live, but they pulled him through. I live in NC. They say if you are on I-95 in NC and suffer a heart attack, do not go to a hospital until you can make it to I-440 and Duke. Just about any other hospital in NC especially in Onslow County and you are going to die.

I think it’s more likely that Alex will send a bunch of classified documents to Wikileaks to show her support for the sex offender.

A $250,000 MIT doctorate and guess who will be at home changing the twins’ diapers and cleaning up pablum?

I just enjoy reading one day at a time.

I wonder how GBT decides which storyline to go with each week?

“Er, “the sex offender”? In the Congress or freelance?I think the reference was to the Wikileaks guy who is wanted in Sweden for alleged sex offenses.The post was just a troll.

I would definitely go to St Elegius in Boston (“St Elsewhere”).

Delivery Platform, it’s also DARPA-speak or military strategist lingo for weapon system, ie. aircraft type, boat, tank etc.
As if sterile language will keep blood of one’s hands.

Julian Assange of Wikileaks is wanted for alleged sexual molestation in Sweden. The charges were dropped by the prosecutor, but soon re-instated by someone higher up the ladder. Assange claims the charges are being kept alive by the Pentagon. Or it could be two women who were outraged upon learning that he had sex with both of them within a couple days. Or does Assange not know it’s wrong to start sex with someone who is still asleep, even if you had consensual sex the night before?Let the conspiracy theories fly… if nothing else, the story suggests that those ivory tower academics are pretty kinky behind closed doors.http://www.nbcnews.com/id/40551118/ns/us_news-wikileaks_in_security/#.USO6SFrSOz5

I had a friend who was going for his doctorate at MIT in the ‘70s. His dissertation was on unbreakable codes. The government stepped in and classified his dissertation so he couldn’t publish it. That was actually a big boost to his career.

Great to read what Doonesbury freaks are saying! I’ve been one since 1970!

I think Alex’s comment “still shopping” means they are doing research….

@Rowena28;
If you can handle a breech-birth at home, by yourself, congratulations. My sisters and I were all born ‘at home’ back in the day when MD’s were ‘too expensive’ and midwives were the norm. My first wife ‘swelled’ too fast and modern MD’s found a tumorous ovary that accompanied a 3-month fetus. If it hadn’t been for a curious intern, I wouldn’t be typing this. And the daughter that was ‘in the oven’ at the time and delivered by C-section ‘on time’ is now out and about with 3 kids of her own, teaching medicine with a husband who teaches HS math and living quite happily ..Your comment sounds remarkably like the latest PBS presentation of “Doc Martin”…

@montessoriteacher
Mine will be 22 in a few months, and 15 seems like only yesterday! Every stage has been wonderful, with some more challenging than others. I agree that the diaper-and-pablum stage is over before you know it, and in our case it was a piece o’ cake. No “terrible twos” at all. Middle school and high school made up for that, though, being more or less a war zone. I worked at home, so did double duty as breadwinner and nanny. It will be fun to see how Toggle and Alex work this out. Two little boys could be a lot like a barrel of monkeys!

There’s no-one here to explain it to, so why bother?

Interesting that two female DARPA types would use the term “delivery platform” for a maternity ward; in a usual DARPA context it would be a means of putting a payload, preferably a high-yield payload, on a target.

We chose the Brigham, but that was in 1969….

Don’t know anything about BWH and high-risk, but they have a good rep generally on maternity.MGH is top-notch on NICU – I know 2 or 3 women who had crucial need of it, came through aces.C’mon, Alex – don’t restrict the field to BWH/MGH! There’s St. Margaret’s and Boston Medical Center!
