Now we have some bulk to work with us. I hope. He was on the right side then, with Gustine , thought them innocent and said so. Lets hope that he doesn’t try to worm out of this. Blessed Be
“Look, Doc, all I know is what they taught me at mayor school. There are certain rules about Endtown and rule number one is rats will arrest whoever they want. And rule number two is doctors can’t change rule number one.”
At least Doc did not go where I thought he would. Asking Allgood to help not knowing Allgood is behind it. Now Walt the Mayor might go ask Allgood. Well lets see what by products can come from mutant fish. If they are a sturgeon CAVIAR!!!!! The worm could chew dirt to help grow mushrooms in the deeper caves. The worm could swim in some good tequila. (Ah but that would kill him)I can agree with TSOJ. Walt was the biggest fence sitter there was. He caused them all to go topside because he could not make up his mind. A good thing in it found Petey but drove Flask more nuts. Indecision kept Al and Gustine alive. If he agreed with Jackrabbit, Flask would have had them shot. It may have stayed status quo with Flask still running the show looking for boys if he agreed with the girl (forgot her name) and none of this would have ever occurred as they never would have gone topside. Of course there would be no Petey.I am reminded of Barney Bear the cartoon. He had issues with a worm in one. (A good heart but not the brightest bulb) Had to hold a gun on him to make him go get fish.
Well, it’s nice to know that the Earthworm wasn’t named Jim. Also, you know what, being an earthworm is just… on the mutant animal scale of awesomeness, that’s gotta be down at the bottom next to leeches, mold, and lawyers.
So that’s how the Endtowners handle post-apocalyptic fishing…I’ve been curious, what with all the bits about it in the corners of the strip…#I suppose now, once Walter proves to be of no help, Doc Chase’s next stop will be Albert and / or Gustine…
Lets look at this.Is the Mayor a real power in Endtown?I believe not.He has very little clout at anything above deciding to fix a pot hole in the road. The real power rests with the High Council. Doc has to get to the Council by any means possible. The Mayor may help ONLY in getting you in the door but from there he would be of no effect.Doc has to get some bigger “guns” so to say to help.He may have to step up himself. He is a respected doctor treating all of Endtown. That has to count for something. A one time patient he has treated before who is in a position of influence would be of use. But expecting the Mayor to be of a BIG help is not a viable option. He might get you to the Receptionist but beyond that might take a bit more back bone.As in any society there has to be a hierarchy. Individuals who hold influence and respected by all. Those are the ones to be in contact with. Who do you think Allgood has been working with to position himself as he is now, the common Endtowner? No my friends he has been working the elite of Endtown. The real power behind everything. These individuals we have not been introduced to or have we?Remember the cake? He seemed very respectful, a man of worth and influence, well dressed, polite to a T, so I believe we have met one. He just passed but he had to have friends.
Oh yeah, Walter Bear. Endtown’s always intoxicated mayorIf one alcoholic comic strip character (Bung) isn’t enough,it’s this guy. Both can’t stay sober long enough to breakwind! And even the scent of that is100 proof!
I think the mayor may be more help than he’s getting credit. “I’m not playing along today!” suggests the mayor has gone fishing before, “I thought I might find you here” suggests it’s frequent. Just imagine how persuasive Walt must be to convince both Mike and Syd to go along with this keeping in mind where the hook goes for both the worm and the fish.
Wow, thanks, that is a part of the story I didn’t remember seeing. I got go-comics on the day that Wally showed upThen I realised it had to be at the back of End town book 2 and I spent a couple of hours reading!! I’m in Kansas, where we haven’t had much of a winter for the last 3 years, until today..- Last night we had a thunder-snow! Loud thunder with the snow and by tonight wee are supposed to get 15 inches. couldn’t get out today at all.To go back to a point, does every one have to keep clicking the back arrow until they arrive at the part of the story looked for? Is there a shortcut, besides when some one sends a link?
Mike just rides the hook wearing scuba gear. Syd grabs the line and pretends to fight to give Walt some sport. As a reward, Walt gives them both time off from the Endtown Council of which they are both members. This shows Walt has some influence on the Council.

Dang. “Worm” can’t be the most pleasing thing to mutate into.

Yeegh… mutated into an earthworm. Now there’s a thought. What other sentient worms would there be? Sandworms? Leeches? Tapeworms? Planarians?

Doc’s getting desperate, going from the top of the chain of command to the bottom in just 5 minutes…

Too bad…It would have been appropriate (or major tongue-in-cheek) to have the fish’s name “Henry”

One of my favorite quotes from the show. It really summed up the whole story in a nutshell.

I think fish or worm could be two of the worst things to mutate into.
As for the mayor, I have a feeling he’s not going to do much, or be convinced not to do anything by the High Council.

If the Council doesn’t allow use of mutant milk, they totally won’t allow mutant fishing.
